I have had conflicting information on this one and decided to come here an ask the experts. Can anybody tell me if you have to pay for self-parking at VGC if you are a DVC member staying on points? I asked MS who told me that parking would be free for us, but the agent also told me that I could do online check in at VGC, which I know is not the case. I have seen people suggesting that you have to pay and others that up to two cars are free. Does anybody no for sure?

Parking is included if you are staying on points at the VGC. The hotel guests are charged. I am not sure of the number of cars, but I think that other posters have said it was referenced somewhere on their confirmation, but not completely sure.

Enjoy your trip, the VGC are Awesome! :cool1:

You get at least 1 car per room that I know of. Maybe if you have a 2br you're allowed 2?
And AFAIK you don't have to pay self parking at all for DVC staying on points. You drive your car into the structure across the street and then when you get out you swipe your room key... and voila!

If we are going to be renting points is that the same as the owner staying there and will not have to pay parking Thanks

Thanks for the clarification. I have not actually received my paper confirmation yet and it does not say anything about this on the email confirmation. I spoke to somebody who owns at GC and he said they were charged the last time they stayed there. So that got me worried. We only will have one car anyway so that won't be a problem.

This is straight from the website:
* Convenient self-parking is located across the street (up to 2 cars, no extra charge)
* Valet parking available for $17.00 (subject to change) per night

That friend of yours should ask for a refund if they were there with points.

I have now had an email back from MS confirming the free self-parking for up to two vehicles. I will still print off the email and take it just in case there are any problems when we get there. Thanks again for all the help and advice.

And I have to add that I was pleasantly surprised by how close the parking really was. I expected it to be further. Not sure what happens when that lot fills up, but if you can find a spot there I found it very convenient!

Agreed it is closely situation, however just be sure when you are crossing the street. There is a light there but sometimes people like to cross "whenever" and the street has a lot of traffic.:)
