Parking at the resort & resort hopping

We will have a rental car for part of our stay. We are staying at the CBR & I was wondering is there a 'fee' to park your car at the resort? (We are AP holders if that matters)

I thought I read somewhere that there is a daily charge but now I can not find where I saw that. I am sure someone here can help me.

Also will we be able to resort hop? Since we will have a car for a few days, we would like to check some of the other resorts out. Especially AKL since we will be staying there in December.
Do we have to check in with the front desk & let them know we just want to look around?
Are all resorts 'open' for hopping or are there some that don't really 'care' for it?

We love to resort hop!!! All of the Disney hotels are wonderful - great theming! There is no fee to park your car at the hotels. When you pull into the lot, there's a guard there and you just tell him you're checking in. He'll check your name on the list.

As far as going to the other hotels, we've never had a problem. We've parked at the Wilderness Lodge, just to look around, and last year, we parked at the Polynesian for breakfast at the Kona Cafe - had to have some Tonga Toast!!! The guard did ask us if we were staying there, we just told him we'd be there for breakfast and he gave us a pass to keep in the window. We didn't actually park at the AKL - we just rode the bus to go check out the resort, and of course, have dinner at BOMAs!!! In fact, last Dec, we were waiting for a bus from AKL to one of the parks to get back to the Grand Floridian. When one of the buses came, he asked what we were waiting for. We told him we needed a bus to one of the parks so we could get back to the GF. He told us to hop aboard, and we got "Special" treatment - a trip right to the GF!!! He was so nice!!!

Anyway, you shouldn't have a problem with resort hopping!!! We always enjoy checking things out - and sometimes grabbing a meal!!! Have fun!!!!

BTW, there is no charge for parking at the resorts unless you are doing valet parking.

How exciting that this is, according to your countdown, your first visit! We love to resort hop! I found the most amazing view of the AKL lobby is from the bridge that is on about the 5th floor. When you are at AKL, remember to go down some of the room corridors, because every so often there are viewing areas of the different savannahs. It was raining when we were staying at AKL so we spent quite a bit of time doing this.

Since you are already an on-site guest, you may or may not be given a special parking pass. Depends on the resort, and how busy it is, and what the security guard feels like doing that particular day. Your window pass from CBR may be sufficient. Of course Disney wants people to check out the other resorts ... definite potential for future guests!
