Can I go straight to a theme park with my rental car from the airport and still get free parking before checking in? Or do I need to go to the hotel first to get checked in and get a parking pass?

They no longer issue parking passes to resort guests. They can scan your MagicBand to verify your eligibility to park for free.

Agree with erionm, no parking pass. As long as you have the reservation in your MDE app, and have a way to show that to the person at the parking gate you are staying on-site at WDW that day (like Magic Band or phone), you'll be fine. If you're going right to a park before the hotel, I'd recommend doing online check-in - then, in theory, you should be notified at some point via that app when your room is ready.

For us, if the weather is going to be hot, we prefer the option to stop by the hotel first and drop off the bags with Bell so they don't bake in the trunk while we're enjoying the park - but that's not what you asked!
