We plan to visit typhoon Lagoon before checking in to pop while we wait for our room to be ready. Do we have to pay for parking? Or can we park as guests?

You've got a couple options:
1. Stop by Pop before Typhoon Lagoon and Check In. You can do this as early as 6AM. Your room probably won't be ready, though it might, but you'll be an official guest once you check in.
2. Go to Typhoon Lagoon, pay for parking, bring your receipt to Pop when you check in and they will refund what you paid.
3. Do Online Check In and specify your estimated arrival as 7AM. When you get to Typhoon Lagoon and they scan your Magic Band you might be listed in the system as an official guest.
Thanks! I did online check in but on your recc just changed arrival time to 7am. Will try the magic band and if that fails will pat and get refund. Do you happen to know How much is parking there?

You know what, I don't think they charge for the Water Parks. We've never driven to them, but now that I think about it I don't ever remember seeing a booth to pay or use your Magic Bands.
ETA - Yup, just found on WDW website, complimentary parking for the Water Parks.

I would definitely go to Pop Century first and check in. That way, they know you are there and if you don't have a lot of room requests, your room could be ready much earlier than what you think.

Was a little confused because we've never driven to any of the parks and the website says complimentary for guests. I assumed that meant WDW guests and not "guests" of the water park glad to know if it's free to all!!
