Parking at resort if not a resort guest

My elderly aunt and uncle are visiting WDW with my mom. I put an itinerary together for them but they were concerned with all the walking and crowds so I am trying to make things a little easier for them. I thought that instead of sitting in the crowds for Wishes at Magic Kingdom, they could go to the beach at the Poly to watch the fireworks and perhaps have dinner there somewhere. That way it is a little more relaxing for them. Instead of then taking the monorail back to the park to get their car, can they just park at the Poly for the day and get bak and forth using the monorail? I'm not sure if this I permitted if you are not staying on site. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks :)

You can park at the resort, if not staying there, but only for 2 hours (to have dinner, or the dinner show at Poly).

However, there is an exception: if you use the valet parking at the resort, you can park there all day, even if not a resort guest (but you have to pay for the valet park, obviously).

Since they are staying off-site, I would recommend that they valet park at Poly in this case. The incremental cost would be worth it.

Thank you! I think they will use that option then. I appreciate your help!

Please communicate to them that parking at the resort all day is generally frowned upon unless they are a guest. The valet parking is different, since it is a separate area and they will pay for it, but if they choose to self park at the last minute, they may have some trouble should they exceed the time limit.

I just wanted to reiterate this, as it is likely I would make that decision once there if I didn't know the rules, if only to save some money.

They will valet park and pay to do so, they aren't trying to freeload. That will also make it easier for them to get their car at the end of the day and not have to walk across a giant parking lot. Thanks again everyone for your help - they are a lot less concerned now about their trip and are really looking forward to watching the fireworks from the "beach" :)

I completely concur that valet is a great because you just had them your ticket and they bring the car to you. No hiking through the parking lot!

It's also worth knowing that once your pay for valet at a Disney resort (e.g., Poly), you can valet your car at any other Disney resort for the rest of that day without having to pay again. Just keep your receipt from the first place. (Technically, it's all in the system so you shouldn't need the receipt, but just in case the computer is having issues, it's good to have it. I needed it once when the system wasn't working so they couldn't look up the earlier valet.)
