Parking at port in San Diego

The travel agent said there isn't any port parking at the San Diego port where the wonder ship goes out of. She also didn't have any answers of where to park other than the air port. Is this correct? Do we have to park at the air port then taxi to the port. That seems so annoying if everyone has to do that.

There are plenty of parking areas in San Diego. But, true, none actually AT the port.

Many of the hotels in the area allow cruise parking (even if you aren't staying there), but they must be booked in advance.

Also, parking at the airport isn't that much of an issue, as it's only about 5 miles away. Most airport lots have shuttles to the cruise terminal.

Here's a pretty good website to find parking:

Or try this one:

We parked at the Wyndham (right across the street from the pier). We booked it about 3 months out.

I imagine it would be possible to walk from the airport. It should be a pretty walk along the bay there. But if you do, I would see if you can drop off your luggage first, then park. Google maps shows it to be about a 1.5 mile/30 minute walk from the airport's main long-term parking. There are other third-party airport lots as well. They will be a bit further away. We got a parking reservation at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside across the street from the port. I've read recently that reservations are running out for some cruises this spring. So check on it soon if you think you'd like to park there. We made a reservation through https://www.airportparkingconnection.com.

Well, technically your TA is correct in that there is no cruise ship terminal parking and all of the pay lots around the port are considered "long term airport parking". Being that the port and the airport are so close together, they share the lots, but they are airport lots and typically shuttles run to and from the airport...but some also drop off at the port. Hotels also have park and cruise deals. Our on site airport parking is around $32 per day, so most people use the offsite lots that charge closer to $15 per day. Check Out Park N Fly San Diego. Lot 3 is their cruise ship terminal parking lot and they have a shuttle that will take you to the pier. There used to be parking near the port, but they have since developed that land with the new Waterfront park.

With regards to walking to the port from the airport, i would not do that...the airport is fenced quite a bit for security and then for the construction of the new parking structures, so to walk, you couldn't take the most direct route (that shows up on google earth) because of the fences and lack of sidewalks...and when I mean lack of sidewalks, I mean walking in traffic.

Thank you all for your info! Now I have starting ground for research! I was so lost I didn't even know where to look for info

Go with any good off airport lot and they usually will take you to the cruise port. Wyndham is pretty walkable to the port (me thinks).

On site airport parking would usually require a shuttle, taxi, uber/lyft, or MTS 992 to the port.

I park at Aladdin's. http://www.aladdinparking.com/ You can get a newspaper and water bottle when you park there. If you want to pay for autodetailing, they do that, too.

They do get overwhelmed with DCL guests and the last time I parked there they were asking drivers to drop off family members at the port and only have 2 people per family on their shuttle. It is a mile away. If you don't have too much luggage, it's actually a nice walk to the ship.
