Has anyone here driven down to Port Canaveral and parked there during the cruise? We live way too close to fly, so we are just driving down. I think I read somewhere that they do have parking there, but of course you have to pay for it. Do all of the people coming into Port Canaveral for the different cruise lines park here? And how far is it to the Disney terminal from where you park? I sure hope that it's a secured area. I'm a little nervous about leaving my baby parked alone with strangers for 3 nights! :guilty:

It is a secured area, and each dock at the port has its own parking area. I personally havn't used it yet, but will be this coming september.

The parking is totally secure just across from where the boats are docked. You pull your car up to the dock, unload your car and a member in your party pulls across the street, pays for parking (approximately $35.00 for 3/4 days) and then walks back to the ship.
Totally secure and safe.

I understand from the Passporter that there are white tents in the parking lot area to leave your luggage. Has anyone done this? Can I feel confident that our luggage will find its way onto the Magic in time? With two little ones in tow, it might be convenient for DH and I both to park the car and walk them into the terminal. Any thoughts?

This part has *JUST* changed. DCL built a brand new covered dropoff area along the road separating the terminal from the parking lot. You now dropoff your passengers and luggage there then park the car. They do not have the white tents in the lot any longer and you do not pull up right in front of the terminal building. But it's still a very short walk to get into the terminal itself and there are porters in the covered area to take your luggage to the ship directly.

Gotta love these boards... nothing like up to dat, late breaking information!

UGAFAN.....we are like you....live to close to fly. We drove down and parked at the port. It was great. Drove up, dropped our luggage off, dh parked the car right across from the pick up area. It was painless and easy.

Please remember to make sure your car has NO food in it. I have heard that ants are really bad. We didn't have that problem, but others have!

Hope

Nice change Mark. Did they make the change for "security" reasons?
Whatever the change, I am sure it is a good one.

The parking is $10/day, they accept cash, MC and VISA. Last time I parked there it was still pull up to the terminal, drop the bags, then park, so this month will be our first time with the new set up. I am sure it is idiot-proof (which is great for me...), as there were several places along the driveway into the DCL terminal & lot there were staffed by informed DCL personnel giving directions and instructions on how the process worked, so it will be no problem. As far as how far is the walk, I have had longer walks in many a mall parking lot than at DCL. Have ID's for everyone out and ready, and cruise docs handy too, and enjoy.

UGA fan--how bout them dawgs?! Gonna miss Greene and Pollack.....

Kind of... and also to eliminate any confusion.

Where there used to be multiple dropoff points and paths, now there is now one place for all pickup/dropoffs instead, and the only security point is when you leave the dropoff area to enter the terminal on foot they will check your docs, vehicles no longer need to be checked if they are just doing dropoff or pickup. It is actually a lot less complicated than it used to be. I find it a serious improvment.

Oh, don't make me cry...they'll never be another as good as Pollack...not to mention the bond that Greene and Pollack had. Man are we DAWG fans gonna miss 'em. Thank the Lord that we have a coach as awesome as Richt, and I think that Shockley will be able to step up to the plate come next season. Now he won't take Greene's place by any means, but I think he'll do a good enough job! GOOOOOOOOO DAWGS! :cheer2:
