Hi, I have a question about parking at resorts. If I have breakfast at Kona, can I leave my car parked at the Polynesian and take the monorail to MK? Or do I have to drive all the way back to Pop Century and take the bus?

No, parking is for resort guests only or a 3 hour limit for guests dining there.

You can park at the TTC and walk to the Poly for breakfast. After breakfast you can take the monorail to MK. At the end of the day you can go back to your car and drive to your resort.

Ok we are DVC members and on the weekends because points are way to much we stay at the Allstar resorts. We always for the past 5 years have had no trouble getting in the gates with our parking pass. Last time we told the gate guy that we were going to try and have breakfest at Cape May and he said good luck and waved us in. We parked there for the day. We also parked at the Grand Floriadian with the Allstar pass with no trouble. In the past 5 years we have never had a proplem parking at any resort as long as we were staying on Disney. No gate CM has ever given us a 3 hour parking pass or a hard time.:goodvibes

While your car has never been towed, I have seen them tow cars at the BC parking lot and at AKL as well.

You have been very lucky ignoring the rules and Disney has been very tight lately about this kind of thing. Hope Im not a resort guest, looking for a parking space, when you arrive.:sad1:

This is the best advice. :thumbsup2 You can only get a 3 hour permit when visiting another resort -- better not to take any chances when this would actually be easier for you at the end of the day.

The 3 hour pass is very rarely issued or enforced. In 27 years of going I have only received them from DAKL and the Poly. Last time I was at the Poly ;no pass.

You have been lucky. The official rules state that resort parking lots are not to be used for themepark access.I have seen cars towed. If it is busier times of year and Holidays they tend to be more diligent, but just because you have been lucky in the past, doesn't mean your luck will continue to hold. Now if you valet park at a resort, you can do what you want, since you are paying for parking

It sometimes depends on the time of the year and how crowded the lot is. Last October I was staying at Boardwalk and drove over to Beach Club to pickup a couple of friends to go to SSR to tour the DVC models. The guard gave me a hard time. She kept saying I could not park. I said I will pick them up and drive right back out, total time less than 5 minutes. Why would I want to park there when I'm staying at Boardwalk, she could see the parking permit. But it was during Food & Wine and they were being tough. On the other hand, last June I was waived right in, we were staying at AKV and were going to Beaches & Cream.

Don't take a chance. Park next store and walk. A little walk is better than worrying about your car all day.

If your staying at the POP, leave your car there and just take a bus to MK and hop on the monorail to the Poly and then the monorail back to MK when your finished eating.:thumbsup2

Now that you mention it I have NEVER received a three hour parking pass at any of the resorts.

I did it last year with breakfast at O'hana's and then we went to MK. When we checked in, the guard did say I could do it, but I only had 3 hours. No pass was given. It worked perfect for us. We went to MK first for 1 1/2 hours, then went back for our breakfast. We were in and out within the 3 hour mark.

I would hate to risk longer and have my car towed.

We are staying at Boardwalk and our friends are staying at POR. Is there parking for them to come over and visit and then hang out at the Boardwalk for the evening?

It might be a DIS rule but it is not a Disney rule. I have ask at the gate several times and have never been told by a CM at the gate that we can not park there. Many times they have seen our resort pass and just waved us in.

It is the rule - since I have been given the parking pass myself - at the Contemporary and at the Poly. Just because it's not always enforced doesn't make it a DIS-created rule, vs. Disney's rule. Just like anything - it's their policy, they enforce it when they need to and don't when they don't. Because they do sometimes enforce it, it wouldn't be right just to tell people it's "no problem" when they ask the question.

I've seen signs in front of the resort parking lots - something like "theme park parking not permitted".

I know the Contemporary is pretty strict, we had ressies at CM and even though we had a parking pass from ASMo, the guard had a list of those with ressies before he would even let us in!

No it is an actual rule. The sign says "Resort parking not to be used for themepark access..If everyone did it , there would be no parking at the resort for actual resort guests or people coming to dine.Espcially at the MK area and Epcot area resorts
