Parking at MK - I'm losing my mind!

I know you typically park at the TTC and take the monorail, but I also can recall driving straight to a parking lot closer to MK and walking under a bridge to get to the park. What I can't recall is how I got there! :confused3

I'm wondering if those were the times we stayed at WL, so we had a different traffic pattern? Or did we just get there really early and that lot wasn't full yet?

I'd like to try to figure out how I did that so we can do it again. It's so much easier at night to walk to the car (although it is a hike) than have to wait in line for the monrail.

Thanks!

There are only so many ways to get to MK. If you are parked at the TTC, then you will take a tram, from your car to the TTC proper, where you will either take the express monorail directly to MK or the ferry boat. If you are at WL you could take a boat or a bus. There is a bridge, with the water above you, just before you get to the CR, but there aren't any sidewalks, so that isn't an option. Other than that, I can't think of any other bridges.
Since I've never driven to the MK, I guess I'm not an authority on it. Perhaps someone else has had a similar experience.

Sounds like you are thinking of the handicapped parking. . .

Actually if you park at the TTC, and walk to the TTC instead of taking the tram, you do walk under an overpass. So maybe this is what you're thinking about.

If you did park in the front lots of the TTC parking lot you could have walked (as mentioned) under the bridge and up to the TTC having not taken the tram, however you would still be taking the monorail or the ferry boat to the Magic Kingdom. The Contemporary is the only place you would be able to walk directly from your car to MK. From the hotel parking lot you can walk across the street to the main entrance to MK. Prior to the addition of the security kiosks at the resorts this was an option (although frowned upon) that many people chose, however they will not let you park there now unless you are staying at the resort or have some other buisness being there (ADR's, friends staying there, a convention, etc).

Ahhhh.....yes, it's all coming back to me now! We must have been at the TTC and parked up near the front, so we just walked instead of taking the tram, then we hopped on the monorail. For some reason, I guess I was just blocking out the monorail part, and thinking we had walked to the park. We had stayed at CR once and walked, so maybe those memories were blending together.

Thanks for straigtening me out!

That overpass has kept me dry in times of downpours!

Sometimes we would all like to forget about taking the monorail, especially when the MK is closing. :rotfl2:

We usually finish up our day at EPCOT, so we park there and take transportation to where we want to start out. EPCOT's lot is less daunting than the Magic Kingdom, and when we finish our day, we are closer to our car.

Actually the last two trips we have stayed onsite and let Disney do the driving. Works for me (rush hour has spoiled driving for me). But we used to park at EPCOT, and if we decided to drive to the parks again, we'd be doing that again. Okay, I'm rambling...I'll stop now.
