We are planning our first trip to Fort Wilderness for June 2014. We are planning to bring our golf cart with us. I have been soaking up all the Fort information that I can find. I am trying to figure out if there is parking available to leave your cart if you are taking the boat over to MK or if we will have to take the internal buses.

Also, does anyone know if a ramp is available to unload our cart or do we need to plan on bring our ramps?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hello FLA NUT- I can take the first part of your questions- Yes, there is a very large area for cart parking at the marina area. No problem with this. As for the cart unloading- I'll have to leave that to somebody else. Sorry.

. . . Also, does anyone know if a ramp is available to unload our cart or do we need to plan on bring our ramps? . . .

1) There is a "mound" to unload carts from pickup truck.
2) It isn't official, but that is its purpose.
3) Just inside the gates on the main drag, left side.

Thanks for the help. That is exactly what I wanted to know. I can't wait to get FW. We camp at the beach a lot (too much) but I am so excited to finally camp at Disney.

You are going to love the Fort; there is so much to do there (and not to do- relax......) Make sure you experience the Sing-a-long and outdoor movie.

You need to bring your ramps even with the mound. Last time we used the "mound" we were run off by security. There are other small hills to use however.

I understand they have installed posts around the mound so it is virtually inaccessible now.

Also if you are there during a busy period, the Marina GC parking can fill up. If you find this to be a problem, there is a second lot across from the Settlement bus depot, behind Loop 700.

We will plan on bringing our ramps. I like the thoughts of having our own cart there but I am not looking forward to driving I95 with it on the back of the truck. :scared1:

There is also a golf cart parking area by the Trail's End Restaurant that is an easy walk to the Marina.

This! Closer than the bus depot. This lot rarely gets full and is a good reason to have to stop at Crockett's Tavern on the way back to your site/cabin ;)

You are oh, so wrong. Have you been around that lot in the evening? It is FULL of people going to the shows, or Crocketts, or going in for take out at Trails End. Please do not advertise this area for long term parking.

Ditto on that. :thumbsup2
