We have never flown from LaGuardia. Can anyone give me any info on long term parking there. Expensive? How easy is it to park and get to your terminal? Any way to get discounts?

We usually fly from Hartford which is so easy for parking. Unfortunately, the air prices are ridiculous.

Thanks.

I had to chime in that this is our first time out of LGA too! We usually fly from BDL. I just hired the car service I use at work for the executive. He gave me a great deal!:thumbsup2 Of course, he has to pick us up at 1am...but we will be at WDW by 9:30am.:rolleyes1

One thing I WOULD suggest is to find a lesser expensive hotel that offers the stay and fly package and book the night before. That way you are already there and can shuttle to the airport.

Have you looked at flights from HPN (White Plains, NY) or SWF (Newburgh, NY) to MCO? Both should be closer to you than LaGuardia (I'm guessing if BDL is your preferred airport). HPN has both jetBlue and Airtran who offer non-stops to Orlando daily. SWF I believe has one jetBlue non-stop per day (I think). SWF has $11/day parking. HPN is more but at least you can avoid driving through Queens.

Both those airports usually have great fares. Even if they didn't I'd pay extra to avoid LGA. I hate that place.

There is nothing that will make you panic more, than arriving at the airport and finding that all the long term parking lots are filled to capacity. This happened to us once at Laguardia. Luckily we found an offsite location and we were able to just make our flight, barely.

After that time, we never counted on using airport parking and made sure we made a reservation at an off site location.

We always had good luck using Dollar:

Best Thing to do: Avoid LGA all together. Security is slow. Baggage Claim is slow. Traffic is slow. Ground Delays are guaranteed on Take off.

If you must fly LGA, go offsite and use the shuttle. I think daily at LGA is $33 and offsite is more like $18-20 depending on your coupon hunting ability. I used one at a hotel near by (name escapes) but they were good and convenient

Also I was told (but cant confirm) that handicapped parking at LGA is 1/2 price. So if anyone with a disability is flying and they have a placard, check into that

I'm guessing that you are coming from CT. With a family I'd check into just taking a shuttle straight from your house if your flying out of LGA. I've used Go Shuttle for a few trips over the years. (Used to be Primetime Shuttle).

They have some set spots at hotels, but they will also pick you up directly at your house and bring you right to the airport. They have shared rides as well as private shuttles. Depending on the size of your party a private shuttle may be a good deal.

I usually fly out of HPN now. We stay overnight at the Armonk La Quinta Inn and get parking for the week with their STAYGO rate. I think our room the last trip was $100 and we got and up to 10 days of parking. Much better than the airports $25 per day fees.

Can you elaborate on this LaQuinta parking a little because it sounds great. We are hoping to get an early flight from HPN, if Jet Blue ever releases their November schedule(urghhh).

How do you book this deal? How many nights do you have to stay at La Quinta? How far is La Quinta from the airport? Any other info you think is important would be great, Thanks.

I've always booked my room on their online site. It's the Armonk, NY La Quinta. You need to enter the code STAYGO for the rates that include the parking. I'm pretty sure that you can book over the phone too, just let them know that you want the parking package.

You only need to book one night and you get parking for up to 10 days. I love taking the first Jet Blue flight out in the morning so staying there works out perfectly.

They have a shuttle service that runs from I believe 5am until midnight between the hotel and the airport. When you check in they'll ask what time your flight is and reserve you a spot on the shuttle. (I've never been on the shuttle when it's full). The airport is about a 20 minute ride or so away.

When you return at the end of the vacation you just give the hotel a call and they'll send the shuttle out to pick you up.

I'm pretty sure that you can park there without staying for $10 a day, but I've never done that. I'm usually using the full $10 days so I take advantage of not having to be up at 3am to get to the airport.

My last stay there was at the end of Feb. when the snowstorm hit that area. We ended up having to spend an extra night at the hotel after our flight was cancelled. They were wonderful and really went out of their way to make a rough situation easier on us.
