Which DVC Resorts have the most convenient on-site parking? Which ones have the worst?

With two kids under 5, this will be a factor in our decision of where to stay in our trip next year. We are brand new members and have never stayed at any of the resorts.

Thanks

OKW and AKV- Kidani have the best parking, close to your unit. BLT is really good, BCV is okay but not great. BWV and VWL are insane... you will feel like you parked in Georgia by the time you reach your villa:eek:

Can't beat Old Key West - you can park right in front of your villa.

The most difficult is probably Boardwalk, if you 'self-park'.

I really liked Kidani's underground parking. SSR we parked right outside our building, so that was close. And BCV can be very close depending on where you room is, but the Villas at BCV are near the parking lot.

OKW - Best
AKV-Kidani Village
VB
SSR
BCV
BLT
VWL
AKV-Jambo House
BWV - worst

I have no idea on GCV or HHI

GCV might actually be worse than BWV. It's across a busy street from the entrance.

When we stayed at GC several years ago, we valet parked, so it was easy. Haven't been back since the villas opened.

Best: OKW and SSR.

OKW can at times be more convenient as some parking spots are very close. However you can at times be blocked out by others in those spots and have to park further away, so I rate them equally. SSR's lots are bigger therefore we have never had any problems getting a spot in the lot for our building.

Worst: BWV

At OKW and SSR you park right in front, apartment or condo style.

Kidani has its own garage with elevators.

Beach Club and BLT have extensive parking not terribly far from the buildings.

Jambo's lot is further from the building than the above two.

The worst for parking are Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk.

Wow -- this is a first for me -- I may know something Deb and Bill don't (they are a super resource). That's an excellent ranking. GCV is not good, unless you want to valet. As mentioned, it is a ways across a busy street, and a tiny bit uphill when you're carrying groceries back. You can park in front for a short time to unload, then move your car. Maybe a tie with AK-JH, unless you luck out at AK-JH and get a close-in spot -- they have a huge parking lot.

HHI varies -- good to okay, to a couple of villas that are a ways away. The main building has parking undernearth and an elevator up to your floor and lots of luggage carts -- I think it may be the only one with luggage carts (which I find annoying, but I understand why they do that). I'd probably put it after BLT.

(I had a studio at HHI, and couldn't get the luggage cart over the lip at the door (my DD might have been able to). Not an accessible room.

Thanks, now I know everything. :lmao:

Stayed a week at VWL 3 weeks ago and I didn't find the parking situation that bad.

We always parked in the first aisle. The couple of spaces are for Handicapped Parking, but after that, most are regular parking spots and there were always plenty available.

Definitely OKW is the best for parking, but AKV/Kidani is a close second and SSR is pretty good too. I think parking has become less of an issue in recent years with fewer people driving or renting cars with the advent of ME.

Ok this is new to me as our first trip home is coming up soon. How does the parking work? Is it separate, are there certain signs -what is the skinny hehe.

We are going to AKL then OKW in the Spring

depends on the resort.

AKV - jambo has a separate parking area - you park and walk past the drop-off area in front of the lobby into the resort.

AKV - kidani has parking underneath the resort, IIRC.

OKW is spread out and you park right in front of your villa.

The only time you might not be able to park right infront of your villa at OKW is if you are staying in the HH area. But a cm will take your luggage to your unit via golf cart.

I liked BLT's parking, a whole lot. It was closer than the walk to the bus.

How about in BWV or Beach Club? Im planning to have my next vacation here.
Thanks!

We stayed at the Beach Club last year in January. Towards the main entrance, the parking lot was always very full, but up where the villas are there were always lots of spaces available. Since our room was near the quiet pool (not DVC pool, but nearby) it was convenient for us to park there and then walk by the DVC pool and through the DVC lobby to our room.

So when staying at the Beach Club Villas, I thing the parking situation shouldn't be too bad either.
