Parking at Contemporary for Chef Mickeys?

Last year when we visited Animal Kingdom Lodge and the year before at Wildnerness Lodge when we went to look at the resorts and eat at the counter service, we were given parking permits and told that we had three hours only to leave our car there.

DVC membersonly get free valet at the DVC resort they are staying at. They don't get a hang tag and it's not valid at other resorts.
Nope. Per the DVC member website:

Valet parking is complimentary at Disney's BoardWalk Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Disney's Beach Club Resort. Just show your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card. Complimentary valet parking is not available at other valet parking operations or for Theme Park access.

You'll be charged the daily fee of $10.00 for this service at any other valet parking operation at the Walt Disney World Resort. Once you've paid for the valet service, you'll receive unlimited valet parking for the remainder of the day. Whether or not you are charged to valet park, gratuities are still appropriate. There will be no charge for Guests with disabilities who have the proper permits.
And I'm pretty sure that the absence of Animal Kingdom Lodge from this list is just an oversight.

I'm kinda confused here...:confused3

I'm probably in the minority, but we've always done what the OP suggested. Normally, we do it at the Poly. When we went in Oct, we stayed at the POR. We parked at the Poly for breakfast and then headed over to the MK via monorail all day.

When we checked in at the Poly security hut, we said we were there for breakfast and all they said was "Welcome". We already had a Disney parking pass from the POR and we just parked.

We've done this for YEARS and never had a problem or worried about "towing". I've never heard of someone being towed for that reason. :rotfl: I had no idea it was against "Disney law"!

Good luck OP!

I stand corrected, I was always under the impression that we couldn't use it except when staying at a DVC resort on points. Normally we use the DDE card--works the same and at all resorts, but this is good info.

We have done it many times over the last 15 years. At poly, GF, Contemp, Boardwalk, and yacht and beach club.

they will not tow your car. just be smart, dont park in the front row next to an isle, or the guard shack.

Just as aside I have had my car towed twice while at Disney both times due to car problems -- (I swear I have a frequent user account at the Car Care Center) and neither time was there to meet the tow truck -- both times we dealt with security and had it arranged. We were off to the parks or wherever and the the Car Care Center let us know when they got the car and what the problem was. So its possible people think my car was being towed due to my parking situation when in reality I was having car trouble and letting Disney and the car care center deal with the towing.

popcorn:: Good luck in what ever you decide to do. I personally wouldn't do it. I'd hate that I'd be the one trying to find my car only to find out it was towed.

Whether they tow or not, it shows respect to the guests staying at a resort not to take the parking places that they paid for. Wouldn't you expect the same?

I stayed at the Poly last Fall..we had rezzies at the Contemp (California Grill) they gave us a parking permit and on it it said 3 hr maximum stay from the time of our reservation which was noted on it.:confused3

Be careful-- I hear they DO tow cars more than they used to! The Monorail Resorts are getting pretty savvy when it come to the parking issues! You want to take that chance???

It's not just average-aged guests you may be inconveniencing. There are sometimes elderly guests that use the parking lot, too. Honesty is always the best policy.
