Anyone leave their car's at a Hotel when flying out of Buffalo Airport?

How's that compared to the Buffalo Airport extended stay parking?

Which Hotel do you recommend, and how much do they charge for the extended parking?

Two years ago we stayed at the Millenium (right beside Galleria) and used their stay and park. We were gone 2 weeks and after we worked out the price of parking at the airport vs. staying at the hotel (they inflate their overnight price if you are using the stay and park) it was more economical to stay. This year however we are parking at the airport. We are gone 10 days and once we worked out the price it was about the same to pay at a stay and park hotel as grabbing a cheap hotel (Red Roof Inn is about $55/night) and paying airport parking. The one advantage to parking at the airport is that once you land your car is right there as opposed to waiting for a hotel shuttle to come and get you. Also some hotels will only do stay and park for a week, so if you are away longer than that, you will need to call around a bit more.

This past March we left our car for 10 days at the Best Western. The price was $120 for the room and parking. Had no issues and would stay there again. We don't need anything fancy. We like to leave Toronto at 9 or 10pm so the kids are asleep. That way we can park, sleep, wake and fly.

Actually I called the Red Roof Inn... They are one of the only ones that DIDN'T inflate there price. They told me you can leave it free for 15 days, but they don't have a shuttle, so you would have to take a cab.

But still do the math for a nights hotel plus taxi there and back and it will come out pretty close to staying a night and paying the parking at the airport. Taking the shuttle or a taxi isn't bad but after flying and knowing we have a drive ahead of us to get home, we just want to get off the plane, get in the car and drive home. Being able to get going is worth it to us. I think you just have to do the math and see where it comes out and what you are comfortable with. But there are options and that's the good thing!!:thumbsup2

You will have to call and ask...but they should have your flight info and know approx what time you are returning and therefore have the shuttle ready. Our hotel had us call just to confirm we had arrived on time and were there just in case of delays or anything.

Check out betterbidding and use Priceline to bid on the 3.5* in Buffalo-Amherst. You will get the Buffalo Marriott Niagara since it is the only hotel listed under the 3.5* category with priceline. You just register your vehicle at the front desk for the free shuttle to the airport which is 5 miles away and they pick you up when you return. There is no limit on how long you can leave your vehicle and the great thing is you can do it when book through Priceline and park for free. The hotel is very nice. I got it for $52.00 last December but looks like it has gone up slightly. Recent bids look like $60.00 is the magic number.

Just tried $60.

No luck... it didn't even ask if I would take it for $70 (I think they will accept it in increments of $10 if reasonable).

I also tried $32 for 3* near the Airport (I read on the betterbidding site that Millenium was going for $32), no luck, but there it did ask me to go to $42. I will try tomorrow at $34 and hope for Millenium. There are only 2 - 3 star near in the airport zone, Millenium and Holiday Inn Express.

I like the Marriott though, as they said (when I called them) they don't charge for the extended parking, and offer free shuttle.

Keep trying. I had to go up to $42 to get the millenium. Good luck tomorrow. Keep up posted.

So it's been 24 hours, and I tried to bid again.

I first tried the Marriott (as I like the idea of free parking) - I increased my previous bid by $4 and went to $64. No luck!

Then I tried the 3* option near the Airport (which is either Millenium or Holiday In Express), and I raised my bid by $2 to $34. And it was accepted...

:thumbsup2  :woohoo: :yay:

I got the Millennium.

So I called the hotel 30 seconds after getting the bid, to make sure the room has 2 beds, and it does.

Gotta love the DISboards, without you guys, I woulda paid the list rate of $129 (minimum).

Congrats!

I have paid the $129 before. Actually I may have even paid more. But not anymore now that I have discovered priceline and hotwire.

I'm glad it worked out for you.

Just got the Millenium for $32 on Priceline! Thanks for the input on this.....beats the Red Roof!

Just curoius about the parking and shuttle? Do you know what they charge above and beyond this?

Thanks again...great tip!!!

I had to bid up to $42 to get it. Congrats on the $32. I would call the millenium directly their number is 716 681-2400. I believe parking is $7 a day. But double check in case it's changed. Plus, Priceline only includes two adults. We had four people so I called the millenium and made sure we got a room with two beds.

We're opting to park at the airport ourselves. There is a coupon on the buffalo website you can download. Plus, we're arriving home at night and I don't want to add that extra half hour or so that you wait for the shuttle.

Yeah, I called the millennium, and they told me it was $7.00 per day.

Thanks for the info.

I think we will still stay with the airport parking. With the online coupon it comes to $80 for the 10 days we are away...will be $70 at the millenium. $10 more is worth not having to deal with shuttles or wait.

Also called the Millenium direct and confirmed 2 beds.

Thanks again for the info....now we just wait till our time to go!!!!:woohoo:
