We will be staying in September at Saratoga Springs (new members). We will be visting the boardwalk area and will be driving our own car to that location. Where do you park and do you get any discount on parking by being DVC members?

In September you can park in their parking lot on site there or get free valet parking as suggested above, but please do not tip them on arrival if you do, you should only tip them when you pick your car up, when the service is complete. Only on this site have I ever hqave heard of people who tip on arrival. I valet park all over the place, $5 is my tip when they complete the service.

What business is it of your when or how much somebody tips? Sometimes, it just gets old......

There are many who would say you are wrong in the way you tip. It is none of their business what you do with your money, either. The OP didn't ask about tipping advice, jeez....

There is no charge for self parking.

Boardwalk has been working to free up parking in their lot so that guests staying in the Inn and Villas will be able to find parking spots. This had become a huge problem because so many people were visiting Boardwalk or parking there to get to Epcot. There is a lot across the street from the main entrance for those who are visiting Boardwalk. The security guard at the gate was directing visitors there when we stopped in last month. The lot closest to the resort is for guests staying at the resort.

Of course, valet is available, too.

PS: CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING NEW MEMBERS!!!!! We can't wait to see it in person. We saw it from DD last month, and there was lots of landscaping happening then.

It is ok for jekjones1558 to suggest tipping on arrival and pick up , but it is not ok for me to suggest tipping just on pick up. What gives? Are you the censor on these boards, if you are then why is one suggestion none of my business and the other is ok. As for a reason why it is my business and everyone elses is one time I valet parked at BWV and the young man actually stood there and said to me. "I will be parking your car", expecting a tip. He was trying to hustle me and I had all I could do not to laugh, I thanked him and left. What happens is they think everyone is a novice when it comes to these things, now if you want to give your money away to anyone and everyone that is fine, but when you do this is the kind of thing that happens. What next-waiters that are looking for a tip before they serve a meal?? It is all our business what goes on at DVC especially when it comes to this type of thing, I valet park about twice a day on average, I don't want that kind of thing to happen to me again.

Actually, I appreciated the comment on tipping, I don't think it's old at all. My DH tips anyone at BWV who touches the car, whether he receives service or not! He doesn't want to appear stupid about such things, but in our small town a valet is another name for a hall tree(where you hang coats and things), so some of us do need instruction. ;)

I'm glad that BW is trying to put people across the street if they are not staying at the resort. I think only those staying at the resort should be able to self-park close to the resort. Just my $.02.

It's OK for anyone to tip any amount they want. The only problem is that jekjones1558's post could be construed as to suggest those amounts being expected. They are neither expected nor the common tipping etiquette.

I have edited my first post. I am sorry to have started this thread down a very negative path that I never intended. Please accept my apologies.

I do so hope that you love SSR, BWV and all of DVC as much as we do! :sunny:

Aha!! The explanation. LOL!! Since I didn't see your original comments, it was appearing to me that Pa@okw95 had just started a valet parking rant out of the blue. LOL!!

This is why I generally quote the comment I am replying to. So, if the OP edits, I don't look like I'm originating the comments.

Thanks, Beca! I needed that! :)

P.S. Our Sunday paper had an article about the 10 most fun things to do in the USA, and Disneyland was one of them. Thought of you! Kiss Ireland for me. No babies here to kiss these days. :(

Totally agree, :)

I tip going and coming. I like for the people taking my car and going to get my car to be compensated.

Pa@okw, if you don't then as you said that is your privilige. However I think there is a huge difference in relating what you prefer to do, and asking others "not" to do it, inferring their is something wrong with their way.

Thank you!!! I will certainly kiss Ireland for you, but she "busted" her lip open tonight (her first boo-boo involving blood)..so, I think I will wait and kiss her tomorrow!!

I'm curious...if DL was on that list, where was WDW???

Congrats on you "new" June trip!!!!

We got the same article in yesterday's Chicago Tribune. WDW was not in the list of 10 places to visit, though DL was. Las Vegas was listed number 1. I was baffled :).

We received the same insert in our paper in small town Mass. I had to laugh when I saw your comments on it. DH and I were saying the same things. Who DID they survey???!!! LOL::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

If we want to go to the BW and aren't styaing at one of the BW resorts, we valet at the BW and tip anyone who touches our car.

If the guy parking your car isn't the same guy who brings your car back to you, the first guy gets screwed.
