We are staying at a condo offsite that will be very close to Animal kingdom. From what I remember there is parking there at the park. My question is since AK closes early compared to the other parks is it feasible to park there each day and then just take shuttles to the other parks? Will shuttles still be going back to AK after the closing times of the other parks?

Thanks

First problem is that there are no busses that go from park to park. You would have to take a bus to a resort, or TTC to transfer to another bus to the other park. I don't know for sure but I would think that the buses would stop running to the AK when it closes. If you want to park at one spot I would park at the MK which gets you at the TTC. From there you can take buses, boats, or Monorail to the parks.

I don't think that buses run to AK after it closes. Take the rental car, you'll get there much more comfortably than using the buses, and it will isn't difficult to navigate the area, there's tons of signs.

Buses do go from Park to Park. I live here in ORlando and when I drive to the park, I leave my car in the parking lot all day and park hop all over the place by using WDW Motor coaches!

The buses usually run for about an hour after the park closes, so if AK closes at 5 pm you will have to be back there by 6ish to get your car.

Once you pay for parking on a day, you have parking at any theme park. So ... you can move your car from AK to say Epcot without paying again. I also know that some people will catch the AKL bus which will make a special stop at the AK parking lot on the way back to a specific theme park (after dropping off their returning AKL guests). This may work out for you, but I wouldn't expect it. You should move your car when you park hop.

Your best bet if staying off site and want to use WDW transportion all day is to decide which park you will be ending your day in, park there and then take the bus or monorail to where you want to be in the morning.

When you end your day you will have the car a the park you are in and you can get to your home away from home more quickly.

No...Disney buses do not run from park to park, nor do the run from resort to resort. Check out this site for more info:

Nowhere on that page does it say you canot get from park to park. You can get from park to park. You cant get from a park to DTD directly. You have to stop at a hotel and take the transportaion form there.

To get from MK to Epcot take the Monorail. Yo get from MK to MGM or AK take the Bus

To get from Epcot to MK take the Monorail. To get from Epcot to MGM take the bus or go out the IG and take the Water Taxi or walk. To get to AK bus.

From MGM MK and AK bus Epcot bus or Water Taxi or walk.

From AK bus to all other parks.

The buses are in the same area as the resort buses.

Thank you for the replies, it looks like parking at AK would have worked ok except for the early closing time of the park. I do like the idea of parking where you plan on ending up first then transporting elsewhere the rest of the day.
Once again thanks and have great trips!

4 Days 23 hours and 13 minutes for me! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

It is so easy to navigate Disney Property that we just moved our car with us...Very easy. Lots of signs everywhere.

I always found that taking the car made the trips quicker. We would go to the parking lot, get another frozen water bottle from the cooler in the trunk and drive ourselves to the next park.

I thought that when I took the buses it was soooooooo lllloooonnnnnggggg...

I prefer using my car...

YES they do... you can leave AK and get on a bus to MGM.

You cannot take a bus from resort to resort... but I know for a fact you can from park to park.

In fact heres a copy/paste from a "official" website...

Between Parks
Buses run between Parks 30 minutes prior to later Park opening
Buses run until later Park clears
Applies to:
Between TTC and Animal Kingdom
Between TTC and Disney-MGM Studios
Between Disney-MGM Studios and Epcot
Between Disney-MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom
Between Animal Kingdom and Epcot
Guests traveling to Magic Kingdom via bus from Disney's Animal Kingdom, and Disney-MGM Studios will be dropped off at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

Buses DO run from park to park - ITA -- I did it just several weeks ago taking a bus from MGM to Ecpot! I was even surprised with the boat and walkway but we walked out of MGM and there was the bus stop! with the bus to Epcot - we actually did it a couple of different times.

According to Tyler (Chip 'n Dale Express), our resident expert on the WDW Transportation system (he drives the busses), there are busses from park to park EVEN WHEN the second park is closed (for the sole purpose of bring people back to their cars)

So you can go from Epcot (closing at 9) to AK (closed at 6) up until 10 or so. HOWEVER, the bus does not run very frequently AND the bus will be dropping you off at a park with a very dark parking lot.

So park at the theme park you are ending your day at if you don't want to move your car during the day.

And you will be dropped off at the bus area, possibly quite a ways from where your car is parked. I don't kow if the parking lot trams run after closing.
I don't know how late Rainforest Cafe at AK is open, but it is later than the rest of the park, so at least the area shouldn't be totally deserted.
I agree with the "park where you plan to end the day" though.

Parking where you're going to end your day is always the best approach. Of all the places to park, I feel AK is probably the least practical, even putting aside that it is generally the first park to close each day. If I were to arbitrarily park somewhere -- for example, if I didn't know where we would end up at the end of the day -- it would be EPCOT. It is more centrally-located than the rest, generally the latest to close during the off-season, and accessible via monorail from the MK area -- all great advantages over the other parks.
