For those of us who rent, or take their own car I wish Disney would include parking when you buy park tickets or atleast an option to add on:idea: what do you think???

I like how parking is free if you stay onsite. I think it's great that it gives people the incentive to stay onsite (since that's where the money is for Disney, helping to keep park tickets lower!)

If you are staying on property or have an annual pass parking at the Parks is free.

The computer system which generates parking receipts is not hooked into the ticketing system. And to hook it in would take very major programming. And there would need to be a whole additional set of tickets available through such places as The Disney Store or the authorized resellers to carry tickets with parking on them as well as tickets without parking.

Plus Disney is a for-profit organization (so many think it's nonprofit the way they complain! This is NOT directed to the OP!!) and parking makes them loads of money. They give the "free" parking as an incentive to own an annual pass or stay on property (both cases they are getting money from you those ways). They know people are going to come and park. From a business standpoint, it's brilliant to charge for parking AND charge for tickets. From a consumer standpoint, not so much, but...well, we go anyway! :-)

I would hope they DON'T add parking onto the ticket prices. When we go, 99% of the time we stay on property and don't need to pay parking (we usually don't even have a car). Why would I want to pay extra for an item I don't use?

As far as an optional add on... I would think it would slow down going through the parking gates... attendants would have to scan cards to find out whether you had purchased that add on or not.

As an "offsiter", at least so far, I agree that the parking fees make a dent in the budget (and yes, it could be worse ). In our case, we are still saving almost 3 times that fee daily over the cost at a WDW value resort by staying where we are offsite...and getting free breakfast, free high speed net and Queen beds.

I wouldn't want the parking fee as a ticket add-on, but it would be nice to be able to buy a parking pass for the duration of your visit. It could be displayed like those for onsite guests. That way, offsiters would pay for parking, but all at once and then on subsequent visits just be waved through at the gate. Of course, a discount on parking for longer stays might be nice. ;)

LocalGirl you hit it right on the head :thumbsup2 my OP was for offsite peaple not guests of the resorts I just wish it were an option:) I would definetly add it.

Yes, but if we bought just one parking pass for the duration of the stay you wouldn't have your daily parking passes to put in your scrapbook with the flyers from the park (s) of the day and pictures. :)
