New here to AP and with introduction of SW land next year, want to plan this correctly.

I have 5 day Parkhoppers that will be activated first use on either 6/14 or 6/15. I was considering upgrading to an AP. I have read some threads and am a little confused on strategy and type I should get.

1. Live in Norcal and usually come for extended weekend visits and some holidays (not typically Christmas break). It looks like the only difference between Signature and Signature Plus is the blackouts xmas holiday and addition of photodownload/maxpass? Would they add additional blockout dates next year?
2. I know we will be making a trip in 2019 for SW land. Since we don't know when it will open in Summer, is it even possible to stretch an AP I upgrade from parkhopper to fall?
3. If I were to try to convert parkhopper to AP, when do I do it (ie. before last date or on last day)?

Thanks in advance!

1. Signature is subject to additional blockout date being added. Language right now reads blockouts on decmeber holidays and other peak days.
2. No, your experation will be back dated to the first date the park hopper was used.
3. You have to upgrade before the end of business on the last day of use. So 4 day park hopper has to be upgraded by the end of business on the 4th day. The pass experation though will be back dated.

Thanks for the info! So, the pass will expire ~6/14/2019 which probably won't help me with SW opening. Bummer :(
Our first APs began June 13, 2011. Carsland opened June 14, 2012. It was a bummer. We went the following year, but it was a long wait for me. Our current APs expire June 27, so we could have been there for Pixar Pier but we already had our vacation booked for the week of the 10th. Similar thing happened with the 60th. We're bad at picking dates. LOL

3. You can upgrade your tickets to APs before the end of your last day, but you would lose out on any AP discounts on food and merchandise during your stay. If you upgrade before the end of your last day, make sure to use your MM before upgrading. APs do not get the MM benefit.
The only way I can think of to make sure that your passes cover the entire summer (so it wouldn't matter then exactly which date SWGE opened) would be to renew your APs when they expire in June 2019 (assuming that SWGE hasn't already opened by then).

Oh I didn't realize AP didn't have MM. Maybe I won't pursue AP after all.
