Hi!

We are planning a trip in May and we were thinking of staying at the Park Vue Inn. I’ve heard some pretty decent reviews on this place, but I wanted to see what you all think especially if it is clean;). I heard they offer a full breakfast bar not just continental. What are your comments on the breakfast?

We were thinking of staying at the Del Sol since it is a bit cheaper, but I thought it might be worth a little more money to stay at the Park Vue Inn if the breakfast was good. This way we don't have to go looking every morning.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered! :goodvibes

We just stayed there in October and loved it. We have been staying there every October for the past 4 years and it has gotten so much better. The breakfast is a full hot breakfast and they also offer a social hour in the afternoon/early evening.

The only negative that I have about Park Vue is that the rooms can be on the small size (well, we had 4 people in a queen/bunkbed room and it was tight...I can't speak for the other rooms). But you can't beat the location, the food offerings were great and the staff was very nice!

It might depend on how much more you would pay to stay at the PVI. We always stay there....mainly for location. The breakfast has really grown over the years. Its plenty of food, and that way you don't have to stop and eat inside the park. We are able to eat for free at the hotel, and then make it to an early lunch in the park. Definitely a money saver - cuts our in-park costs by nearly a third.

Last month they had sausage links, cheesy omlets, bacon (not the best bacon, but ok), make your own waffles, donuts, cold cereals, toast, bagels, oatmeal, sometimes yogurt, fruit, milk, juice, coffee.....
Plus REAL plates and sliverware....HUGE improvement over the plastic plates and utensils. Its usually pretty crowded in the breakfast room, but there is outside seating which should be warm in May. There were gas heaters outside in December, but it was still cold.

It can be kind of a lot of work for Mom and Dad....getting everyone fed. When my kids were younger I remember thinking that it would be so much easier to just walk down to IHOP. But now my kiddos can help out and grab their own food.....awwww.

Don't know anything about the Del Sol....or is that the place with the indoor pool? We almost stayed there one year instead because of the indoor pool. But my kiddos swam in the outdoor PVI pool on a very cold December night last month, with no complaints about the water temp.

Happy planning!

Thanks for your input! I'm not to terribly worried about the rooms being a little tight, but I do appreciate the heads up. I didn't know they have a social hour. That might be great to grab a quick snack.:thumbsup2

Thanks:thumbsup2 Sounds like the breakfast is totally worth it. Between the Del Sol and Park Vue in their is a $300 cost differnce(6 night stay for 5), but I was willing to pay since you get a way better breakfast at the Park Vue and the convience of having it right there in the hotel vs. going out looking for somthing each morning.

I like Ihop but the one in Ahaheim is a rip off:eek:

Thanks again!!!!!!!

We have stayed at both Del Sol and PVI. PVI is far superior, in my opinion. It's cleaner, newer, less of a walk, has a great bfast and pool/hot tub.

There have been quite a few posts regarding PVI that could be helpful so try searching also.

We normally stay at the Fairfield, I wonder if the rooms are bigger at PVI? We get 2 queen beds, which is fine, since we just use it to sleep, but the one thing I don't care for is the tiny bathroom. The vanity/sink is outside though, which does help. can anyone post pictures of PVI? I'd love to see actual pictures that aren't on the website. Thanks!

I really doubt the rooms at the PVI are bigger, at least the ones with the one queen and the bunk. I think I have a picture I can post from our trip last year.

Even though the rooms are on the smaller side, it's a great place to stay. You can fill up on the big breakfast, then do a late lunch/early dinner in the park to save money. Rooms were clean, and the location is just unbeatable.

Let me look for a photo of our room...

I don't have great pictures of the room, but basically it was just this bunkbed area, and the queen bed area. I was probably sitting on the queen bed to take the picture. The bathroom, and the microwave/fridge area are across from the bunks.

Honestly, we were in our room so little that it wasn't a problem.

Here's a picture of the queen bed area:

I'm not the OP, but thanks thewritegirl for posting pictures of the bunkbed room. My family and I will be there April 1st and thats the room we reserved so the kids can have their own bed. It's nice to hear all the good reviews and we're very excited to stay there. Question though---Does anybody know if they have that social hour-- dinner still? Or was it just for the summer? Thanks, Candy

thanks thewritegirl! I don't think we could do a bunkbed room, our kids are tall, they aren't little ones...but nonetheless, it's good to see what their bedding & rooms look like. Still trying to decide, we may end up splitting the visit in 2 like we did last year, then we can stay at 2 different places! ;)

I just booked a room with Park Vue for our trip in March. Everything I've read has been good, but I did visit the bedbug registry....and there it was...a write up on Park Vue.:scared1: But it was just one. Hopefully it isn't an issue anymore! Anyone else heard of a bedbug issue at Park Vue?

Saw it on the registry but always wonder if the statements are true.

Yeah, I wonder too...if there were lots of complaints that would be different.

We've stayed there twice and loved it. Didn't find the rooms small at all. But we were not in the room a lot, so maybe we didn't notice. We'd be staying there again in March if we weren't splurging on the Grand. :)

I called the PVI and asked the guy directly about the bedbugregistry issue. His response was that the person that reported the incident had just stayed at another area hotel/motel and that they believe the guest brought the bugs in when they came from the other hotel. He did not try to hide the fact that it did happen, but that the event was a bit suspicious. He assured me that they took care of it in the proper way so that they are gone.

He also said that they have monthly pest control come in and are very diligent to make sure this does not happen again. I mentioned to him that almost all the reviews I have read are positive and he reiterated that they work hard to keep that.

As awful as it sounds, ANY hotel can get bugs. :scared1: They have far much to lose (good reviews) to not do everything they can do alleviate the problem. As creeped out as I was about the possibility of bugs, after I spoke with the PVI guy, those fears were gone.

Here's what the PVI DOES offer ... of course "free" isn't really "free" - more like "included". :)

Free Parking? Yes
Free wifi? Yes
Free breakfast (which appears to be decent)? Yes
Free social hour? Yes
Free water and cookies in the lobby? Yes
Free welcome basket with water or wine and fruit? Yes
Microwave and Fridge? Yes
Heated pool and hot tub? Yes

We'll be there next week, so I'll let you know how it goes! :goodvibes
