OK, I'm getting a little rattled by the Best Western Park Place Inn. We are now looking at Park Vue. Anyone have imput good or bad???

Im staying at the park vue inn , may 4th to may 12th , location location, and i hear they have a decent breakfast.

We stayed at the Park Vue for a quick trip last year. The room was clean and bed comfortable. It is super close to the DL cross walk. We would stay here again, no problem :)

Here are some pics of the room.

Why? We have stayed there many times and have not had any problems.
Is it the dates you are requesting?

I don't like the idea of having to go next door for continental breakfast. Incase DMIL needs juice or coffee, that sounds like a drag. I've aso read a few other things that gave me a little pause.

Me, too. We're booked at BWPPI for August, but now I'm wondering if that's the best idea...:confused3

They have a coffee maker in the room. I would say it's the better of the free breakfasts. If you think she might need juice buy some juice stick it in the mini fridge.

I like it personally.

What are you folks looking for in these hotels? In reality, I doubt that there is all that much difference between the Park Vue, BWPPI, Tropicana, Carousel Inn, etc. Some offer a continental breakfast and some don’t. Some have family suites and some don’t. Some have larger pools and others have smaller pools. Hojo and CCI are a couple minutes further away, but they have nicer grounds and other amenities. I guess you should figure out what is important to you and book according to those priorities. The restaurant the BWPPI uses for the continental breakfast is about 60 feet from the hotel’s reception desk, and I wouldn’t think that should be the deciding factor. I would rather walk the few feet than have a room located right next to an in-hotel breakfast room.

These hotels are older buildings that have been renovated many times, but they are generally clean, safe and close to the park. That being said, they are mostly basic hotels with external corridors. If you want to save money by staying offsite then these places are great. If you want to spend time relaxing in the room and lounging by the pool then these are probably not the place for you.

So much of this is personal preference. Some people want to be immersed in the Disney atmosphere by staying at the on-site hotels and eating at all the Disney restaurants. I love Disneyland, but when I go to the hotel at the end of the day it doesn’t matter to me if we have Disney bedspreads. There is no comparison between these and the on-site Disney hotels, but there is usually a big difference in the price. You get what you pay for. If you look at Tripadvisor and reviews on this and other websites, you will see that no place has a perfect rating and no place has a 0 rating. Some people have good experiences and some have bad ones.

Good luck with your decisions!

Well I have stayed at both BWPPI and Park Vue. Our experiences at BWPPI have always been great. We have not had a complaint in the 20+ times we have stayed in the last 10 years.

However our 1 visit to Park Vue (April 2007) was HORRENDOUS! We were put in not 1 but 2 rooms that were not clean (one had a condom on the floor just under the bed...ewww). Our 3rd room was ok -but we could hear every word said in the next room -including their tv. The breakfast was put away 1/2 hour early 2 different days -to which they said "oh well".

I would not ever stay there again!

I know I may sound picky. DH really wants to stay at DLH as we usually do. After being on the boards for so long, I can see the benefits of staying off site. Since we wil be losing the extra MMs by not staying onsite, I have to be very picky as to not hear, "We should've stayed at DLH".
Last summer we switched and took a Carnival cruise insted of our usual Royal Carribbean. It was a week of, RCL is better. or Next time, let's just pay the extra......
I will be the one going for Continental Breakfast and bringing it back to the room. How much of a inconvenience is it to go next door, up the stairs and back to our room?
I need to hear the good and the bad between Park Vue and BWPPI in order to make the best decision. Having only stayed at DLH (6 times) how dissapointed will we be staying at one of the others?

We stayed at All Star Movie at WDW last time because DD wanted to stay at Andy's room. DH and I wanted the Grand Floridian. Our room was ok not the best. It didn't ruin our trip. But we know what to expect going in. That i my goal with this thread.

Thanks in advance for any insight

From Grand Floridian to All Star Movie?? You must really love your daughter.

Dragging food back from the restaurant next door may be a pain. If food is that much of an issue, stay at Embassy Suites and have a full meal, or eat in the park.

Yah! The things we do for our kids!!! The food is not an issue really as much as convience. I will probably be grabbg a few things to eat while waiting in line. We do love Embassy Suites but they are too far. Our big meals will be lunch/brunch at Minnie's, Bue Bayou and Ariel's. I just don't want to regret our decision. So I am trying to weigh the options and opinions of fellow Dissers

Depending on where your room is located at BWPPI, bringing food back to the room may not be an easy task. The lot the hotel is on is narrow but fairly long. Going down the stairs, walking a minute or 2, going up a flight of stairs, gathering food and then reversing the process does not sound pleasant. They do have fairly long hours for their breakfast (7:00 am to 9:30 am or so as a guess, I don’t remember exactly), so we just ate there and went straight to the park from breakfast. I do know that some places are picky about removing food from a buffet area, but I don’t recall that being a problem here. That being said, I’m not sure how they would respond to someone trying to load up a tray to take back to a room. They only supplied small plates for use for breakfast, I don’t remember seeing any trays available for use.

I know that if I did grab something, I would just be 4 muffins (or the like) for us to eat whle waiting in line. We are not big breakfast eaters. We just need little somethingo get us started. In the past, we brought something with us. All of us going in and sitting down just takes alot of time as we will be doing a brunch/early lunch each day. If it is available, I would like to take advantage of it IF it's convenient. If not, no big deal. We'll just ord it from Vons.

IMHO, I say go for DLH...
After reading what you said about your Carnival cruise experience, it may be worth the extra money not to hear the comparisons all week long...or the 'We should have.....'

In our many trips to WDW, we have never even pondered staying at the Grand Floridian....we're just more moderate/value style hotel type people, so the All Star hotels were fine until our family outgrew the rooms. If the value resorts were not to your liking, I would imagine that any of the hotels on Harbor would be not be pleasing.

I say 'Keep Hubby Happy' and stay on property.:flower3:

I have heard others suggest to bring your own cafeteria type lunch try to carry food back from the buffets to your room. I have never done it, but it sounded like a good idea.

I think we have definately decided to NOT stay at DLH ( kind of bittersweet as that has been a tradition for us!) But we booked an all inclusive to Mexico for July with the money saved!:cool1: Now we've got to decide between BWPPI or Park Vue Inn for November. I think I'm going to start a thread between the two and let fellow Dissers help make that decision:confused3

Gotta say I'd jump up and down with glee if my husband wanted so badly to stay onsite! LOL He was happy about staying one night on our June trip, and that I was thrilled with! LOL

How about the Tropicana? Breakfast is in the hotel (small but okay offerings). Really nice pool and hot tub (that's one reason why we haven't stayed at the BWPPI, their pool seems small). Clean rooms, good service, and still just as super close to the park.

I'd say go with HoJo. I think the exterior corridors at either BWPPI or Park Vue are not good. I can speak with experience about BWPPI, and it sounds like Park Vue may be even worse as far as outside noise! We much prefer to plan on eating a quick breakfast in our room and don't mind the short extra walking distance.
