Let me start by saying that we have stayed here before, in late 2007, and I am amazed by the difference between the two visits! They have really classed the place up.
We were at the parks on Thursday and Friday. Very light days- 25 minute waits for Splash at noon. 35 minutes for Space at 4. Very light crowds.
Also, let me say, I am a simple person. It doesn't take much to impress me above basic services.
First- the check in. We got to DL around noon. Our room wasn't ready, but were given our parking pass so we could leave the car and go have fun. I handed over my confirmation, in about 5 minutes we were on our way.
When we returned in the evening for our room key, less than that. Our room keys were already programmed and set aside for us, so we were out of there before the kids could finish the warm cookies on the desk.
Second- the rooms. VERY nice.
The ONLY complaint I had about our stay was the pillows- there were plenty- but boy, they were like rocks! Beds were comfy enough and clean enough. As you can see from the picture, the beds do not have a standard "bedspread" (good thing, because at hotels I throw those right on the fllor- never use a hotel bedspread!) but a thick fllece like blanket between two sheets. Think about the thin blanket that is usually between the top sheet and the bedspread at another hotel. That thickness of blanket. I mean, it is Spring in Southern California...how much blanket does one really need?
We also found a gift basket with a personalized note waiting for us. Very nice touch, and the bottles of water came in handy!
The vanity area is seperated from the room by a half wall, and has granite countertops and nice tilework throughout.
Opposite the sink is the fridge/ coffepot/ microwave area
In case you are planning on bringing lunch things (like we did in '07, and are curious, here is the size of the fridge...the item on the shelf is a candy apple- A mickey one.
Breakfast- in '07, it was basics. there were premade waffles, and a toaster you could run it through. Now there are 2 wafflemakers to make your own waffles, plus many other hot and cold items- yogurt, cereal, cocoa, bacon, sausage, cheese omlettes. TYou can eat inside, or outside on the patio and stare at the Matterhorn as you eat.
Last note- the minimart/ gift shop- They sell Dr. Pepper, and at regular gas station prices, not ridiculous prices! And the clothes are not ridiculously priced either...somehow I forgot to pack my DD7 an outfit. Luckily they had a really cute princess overalls outfit, for 16, and it was 25% off. Not bad!
So, bottom line time. Would I recommend this hotel, heck yes! Would I stay there again? In a heartbeat.
