Let me start by saying that we have stayed here before, in late 2007, and I am amazed by the difference between the two visits! They have really classed the place up.
We were at the parks on Thursday and Friday. Very light days- 25 minute waits for Splash at noon. 35 minutes for Space at 4. Very light crowds.
Also, let me say, I am a simple person. It doesn't take much to impress me above basic services.
First- the check in. We got to DL around noon. Our room wasn't ready, but were given our parking pass so we could leave the car and go have fun. I handed over my confirmation, in about 5 minutes we were on our way.
When we returned in the evening for our room key, less than that. Our room keys were already programmed and set aside for us, so we were out of there before the kids could finish the warm cookies on the desk.
Second- the rooms. VERY nice.

The ONLY complaint I had about our stay was the pillows- there were plenty- but boy, they were like rocks! Beds were comfy enough and clean enough. As you can see from the picture, the beds do not have a standard "bedspread" (good thing, because at hotels I throw those right on the fllor- never use a hotel bedspread!) but a thick fllece like blanket between two sheets. Think about the thin blanket that is usually between the top sheet and the bedspread at another hotel. That thickness of blanket. I mean, it is Spring in Southern California...how much blanket does one really need? :hippie:
We also found a gift basket with a personalized note waiting for us. Very nice touch, and the bottles of water came in handy!

The vanity area is seperated from the room by a half wall, and has granite countertops and nice tilework throughout.

Opposite the sink is the fridge/ coffepot/ microwave area

In case you are planning on bringing lunch things (like we did in '07, and are curious, here is the size of the fridge...the item on the shelf is a candy apple- A mickey one.

Breakfast- in '07, it was basics. there were premade waffles, and a toaster you could run it through. Now there are 2 wafflemakers to make your own waffles, plus many other hot and cold items- yogurt, cereal, cocoa, bacon, sausage, cheese omlettes. TYou can eat inside, or outside on the patio and stare at the Matterhorn as you eat.
Last note- the minimart/ gift shop- They sell Dr. Pepper, and at regular gas station prices, not ridiculous prices! And the clothes are not ridiculously priced either...somehow I forgot to pack my DD7 an outfit. Luckily they had a really cute princess overalls outfit, for 16, and it was 25% off. Not bad!

So, bottom line time. Would I recommend this hotel, heck yes! Would I stay there again? In a heartbeat.

Thanks for report and pixs. Sounds like it might be worth staying at next time.

Thanks for the review... I will be there next week arriving at noon as well... if my room isnt ready do you think they will hold my luggage so we can go to the parks? Also... was the pool heated and do you remember what the pool hours are? And one last question... did they have chain locks on the rooms? or just a latch... just curious.. traveling with a toddler who likes to open doors... :)
nice pics!

Thanks so much for the pics and review of the Park Vue! We're hoping to go to disneyland next spring break and this is the hotel I was really thinking about. I think it will be perfect for my family and I!:cool1:

I can't remember the pool hours, but my kids had a blast swimming there in early December of last year. It was definitely heated. I didn't go in, but I know that they didn't complain about it being cold at all. They went back and forth from the pool to the jacuzzi....which was warm but not too hot. DH spent the whole time in the jacuzzi. We were the only ones in the pool area that day. It was very nice, with nice tables w/umbrellas and nice chairs. The fence was covered with beautiful blooming bouganvilla (spelling???) at the time.

They don't have a chain latch, but a similar type thing up near the top of the door. Its like a long, narrow U-shaped thing that you fold over a bar fixed to the door frame. Works just like a chain latch....your toddler won't be able to escape.

We were were there late last year, our room still had bedspreads (which I immediately stuffed in the closet). I'm glad to see they got rid of them!!!

I love the new bedding! We would for sure be staying there in June if their rates were so high. $130/night

We've got Ramada maingate booked and I check Hojos website everyday to see if the ent rates have come up.

H! Someone beat me with MOST of the answers!
The pool sign said it closes at 10, there was a family in swimming when we were watching the fireworks.
The flip-over door thing will prevent the kiddos from opening it. Plus it bangs alot louder than the chain lock, so it might deter too much unauthorized opening!
Sorry I don't know about the luggage, as we are only 2 hours away so we drive. You could probably call and ask, they are super helpful.
Speaking of which, one thing I forgot to mention. We were settling in when I realized I had forgot my contact lens solution... !!! I really didn't want to load everyone up and start hitting up the convienence stores for solutionl, so I rang the front desk. (hoping they knew if the minimart there carried any) Well, instead, she offered that they keep a bottle at the desk for employees, and if I wanted, I could bring my case down and she would fill it for me!

I've been staying there for many years (for the location), and yes they have improved considerably. I think they finally started to realize that they're in a PRIME spot and if they stepped it up a little, they could charge more. Prices are still reasonable though. Last time I stayed there was in December, and they still had the bedspreads. Interesting to see they did away with them. :)

... if my room isnt ready do you think they will hold my luggage so we can go to the parks?

Yes, there is a small room in the lobby where you can store your luggage.

Thank you so much for this review!

We have decided to try them out for the first time next month. It looks like it will suit our needs perfectly!

Funny about the Dr. Pepper- that is my favorite soda and I always crave it when were at the parks!

When I first read your thread title, I thought huh?... Sounds XXX ....... ;) he he! (J/K!)

------------I profusely apologize for any sense of humor that I might have, be it real or imagined! he he! ;)

Oh.... and thank you for your hotel review, it sounds like a nice place to stay ... or to live for that matter! :) With possible exception of the rock like pillows.

So I was so impressed by this review that I not only thought about booking this hotel for our next trip, but I also finally stopped lurking and decided to join the DISboards. I've always been tempted by the location but was hesitant after reading some of the "roach motel" comments on sites like tripadvisor. We tend to stick to the tried and true (HOJOs), so I'm seeking reassurance before trying something new. No roaches? No odd or "bug-bombed" smells? How was the noise between 11 PM and 6 AM? I am probably a bit on the over-sensitive side when it comes to traffic noise and thin walls. The short walk, recent positive reviews, expanded breakfast, and bunkbed option are all very tempting though.

When we make our reservation, we always request a room near the back (away from Harbor) and on the second floor (there are only two floors). I don't think they will guarantee anything, but so far we have always been put in the back & upstairs. Being away from the street, and having no one stomping overhead helps with the noise. Plus we sleep with the air conditioner wall unit's fan on all night....that really helps drown out any noise.

Beware or trying to sleep through the fireworks show though.....it sounds like they are going off in your room! Its much louder than watching it on main street. Watching the fireworks from the breakfast balcony is nice. Nothing at all like watching from inside the parks, but at least there are no buildings in the way.

Thanks for sharing...never stayed there even though I've been to the Park more times than I can count . I'll keep it in mind for next time!

thanks for the review!
I was thinking about booking this one in June, but im also holding out for Hojo AP rates. :)
Thanks!

Thanks for the great review! We're staying there in September and the location and breakfast for the price seem almost too good to be true (after staying on Disney World property for the last few years). Can't wait:woohoo:
