Think it all depends on when and who you book from and what the exchange rate is at the time.
Also, when you book in the UK, not only do you have to take into account the commision that you'll be paying to the agency, but the upside is that it's all paid for before you go.
The last time we went, we just got our tickets there and paid on the visa. When we got home, we found out that the exchange rate went up to $1.90 to the pound and we ended up paying a lot less than what we were expecting, so in that case, yes, it worked out cheaper.
This time, because we're going to Discovery Cove, we've booked all our tickets in advance apart from Universal Studios. The UK deals on offer don't seem to be as good as the deals in Florida, so we're just going to get them at the gate.
Feel slightly better this time as we don't need to worry about keeping £1000 free for park tickets as it's mostly all paid for before we go.
Plus, when I compared what we paid for our tickets compared to getting them at the gate, there wasn't that much difference by the time you take into account the local sales tax on top of the price.
Hope this helps
