I just purchased my tickets at the local DS and the CM there said that I could hop with a 7-day base ticket but it would use a day....ex: I have 7 entries to the park, I go to MK in the morning using one entry then at night I go to Epcot using another entry. I told her I thought this wasn't allowed and she assured me it can be done but that Disney would rather you buy the hopper option. Has anyone hopped without a hopper or had any experiance with this????? TIA for all replies.

Bad, Bad, Bad CM. You cannot hop without the hopping option, if you would go to MK in morning then Epcot that night they would not let you in.

My friend tried this last time she was there. The system that scans the tickets knows where you've been during the day (big brother Walt is watching you :wave2: ). They politely told her she had to have the hopping option and could add it to her ticket.

HHHHMMMM cause I was only going to buy the 4 day base ticket and she said for $$$$ more you can have the option to go to a different park at night if you wanted to without paying the hopper price. UGH I'll tell you what WDW needs to train their CM's better....they all say different things.

Wow-that information is completely wrong. I wonder how many other people think this and aren't aware of this site to check info.

You must remember that Disney no longer owns the Disney stores and it is possible that the CM you encountered in fact never worked for Disney but was hired after the stores were sold. Even if the CM was an older employee, from before the sale, the stores were sold long before MYW tickets came out. What Disney needs to do is insist that the new management has trained the CMs at the stores correctly since even tho Disney no longer owns the stores thier name is still on them so they must insure that the CMs get the training they need so as not to mislead customers.

I just checked ticket prices.

For advance purchase a 7 day non hopper adult ticket is $203.00
the advance purchase price for a 4 day hopper adult ticket is $225.00 but since you will be doing this at the gate you will probably have to pay the gate price of $234.30.
I believe you will be able to trade the 7day in for the 4day hopper at guest services once you have arrived at WDW since you will be trading up to a more expensive ticket.

I bought our tickets at a DS this past Sunday. The CM and I got into a "friendly" debate about this same issue - hoppers. She said that she had been to WDW three times and you could purchase 7-day MYW tickets and use one "day" up by visiting one park in the morning and then use another "day" by entering another park on the same day. She said I could save a lot of money that way, but the down side was that I would use up two "days" at one time.

I told her that it didn't work that way and I had to have the park hopping option in order to visit more that one park during a day. We kept going back and forth - we had a little crowd around us at this point - until the manager on duty came over and told the CM that she thinks things "might" have changed since the new MYW tickets came out in January. In other words you needed the park hopper option. Then the manager said I could visit all the parks including the water parks with the hopper option. I told her that you needed the Magic Plus option to do that - then I paid for the MYW (with hoppers) tickets and got out of there.

I'm so glad I'm a DISer :cloud9:
