Park ticket cards instead of Magic bands

We will be at Shades of Green for our trip and won’t be buying magic bands. I will get advanced Fast Passes on MDE. I hear that you can “swipe” your park ticket card to activate your fast passes in the parks. Is this correct? In photos I only see folks using the Magic Band.

Yes, you can either use a “paper” ticket or MagicBand. Both have the RFID sensors.

I have never heard of being able to "swipe" your ticket card, but from my knowledge you just tap your card on the mickey icon at the FP kiosk and proceed to the ride

As the others have noted, you just tap your card the same way you would tap the band.

Are you buying Armed Forces Salute tickets? If you buy them from Shades of Green, you will receive activated ticket cards. If you buy them from your base ITT, you will receive cardstock exchange certificates. You can still link those to MDE to book FP, but you will have to activate them when you arrive, by showing military ID at any ticket window or guest relations. They will give you the plastic ticket cards at that time.

No matter where you buy tickets, be sure to do it in time to be able to book your FP at 60 days before checkin!

Have fun!

To keep things clear, WDW used to issue what we called (with the quote marks) "paper" tickets.
These were called (quote) "paper" because even though they looked and felt like paper, they
were made of a product called Tyvek that would not easily tear or be negatively affected by water.

But, several years ago, WDW completely stopped issuing the so-called "paper" tickets.
They replaced all of their "paper" (Tyvek) ticket printers in favor of the current hard plastic ("credit card" type) tickets that carry internal RFID electronic circuits.
These current tickets are issued by all ticket vendors and resorts at WDW.
(And, just to clarify further, no "paper" tickets can activate the FP+ scanners.)

So, no more "paper tickets" are issued.
The only ones remaining are old tickets that guests may still own from long-ago
orders and trips from the past.

Thank you everyone! I did order and receive our plastic card tickets from SOG. I did link them to our account. And I have linked our SOG reservation as well. So we should all be good. I just didn’t realize that the Park tickets had an RFID chip in them. Should work just fine then.

Yay! Now just set your alarm to be ready at 7:00 am Eastern 60 days before your checkin date to book FP! The 60-day booking privilege for SoG guests is new, so take full advantage!

THANks! I fully intend to take advantage of that new perk.
