Hi, our 7 year old dd will need either a stroller or wheel chair dur to health issues. I saw pictures of strollers from Deb Wills site and I see that most park strollers will suit a 7 year old, but the MGM strollers look like they won't

Anyone have experience with these strollers and an older child. I rather not get a wheel chair.

Sandra,
Ask to let her try it first. Then you can make a decision.

We used the strollers at MGM in (01/00) for my then 7 year old daughter and she was comfortable. They were the jogger type strollers, like the ones pictured.

I don't know how big your daughter is, but my 8 year old nephew hitched a ride in the rental strollers at WDW (he jumped in every so often when his 4 year old brother walked) and he fit just fine. I've pushed my Mom around WDW in a wheelchair; I've pushed my kids in a double stroller; I've pushed my kids/nephews in a rental stroller (single and double); I think the rental strollers are the easiest and least fatiguing vehicles to push all day.

I've seen some pretty big kids in the strollers at all the parks at WDW and they looked pretty comfortable.
The wheelchairs for rent, on the other hand, are adult size and would not be very comfortable for a child for a whole day. If you need the stroller while waiting in line, you can get a card at Guest Services which would allow the stroller to be used as a wheelchair (go in queues and buildings just the same as a wheelchair).—

that the strollers have a canopy that can shade dd from the sun versus no protection from the sun in a wheelchair.

Also keep in mind that if you use a stroller, you will have to leave it behind when standing in all the lines. Will your daughter be up to standing in long lines? If not, you should definitely use a wheelchair, although it doesn't sound like that is ideal either.

Good luck with your decision, either way.

Kids who have a medical need for a wheelchair, but are too small to use one of the rental ones can get a card that allows them to use the stroller the same as a wheelchair (taking it into lines, etc.) The card is called a Guest Assistance card and you request it from Guest Services at any of the parks.
Some kids have specialized mobility devices that look like strollers. They can also get a card so that the CM can tell that they need their mobility device with them.

FYI- On my last trip I rented a stroller and my 7 and 9yo kids would take turns. It was a tight fit, but it worked- better than hearing them wine!!! :D

My daughter, who will be 7 in another couple of weeks, used the strollers at all of the parks with no problem--she was so comfortable she had no trouble taking her naps in them either :) If your daughter's need is medical in nature, let the CM at the rental place know, so you can get a note that allows you to take the stroller in the lines. Have a great time :D

Have a Wonderful day, Eeyore

I would get a stroller if you feel more comfortable but make sure you get a guest assistance card. It will be a lot easier and assist you with and special needs your child might have.
