Has anyone done this, especially in Boston, MA? The airport parking is so expensive I was considering the option of staying at a Boston area hotel the night before the flight and then you pay (package deal) to leave your car there, with a shuttle to take you to Logan in the morning. Would you recommend it?

Yes we have done that and it works great! It is definately something I would look into if I were you.

We always stay at park n fly hotels when we fly. It's so convenient to be near the airport the night before a flight, especially an early morning one, have a place to park our car for close to the same price (or cheaper) then airport parking, and a knowledgable shuttle driver to drop us off right at our gate. It is a bit of a wait when you get back for the shuttle to come pick you up again but then it evens out the hassle of dragging all your bags from airport parking to the gate & back especially with kids.

We've done this once (way back in 2001) and are planning on it again. We flew out of Midway and for around $200 we had parking for 12 days as well as a hotel room. Plus we did not have to fight the airport traffic. The shuttle driver unloaded our bags right at the gate and they were checked in right there. There was no need to carry them through the airport!

I agree with the above two posters. I've never done it out of Logan, but I've done it over the past few years in Philadelphia. I live convenient to the Atlantic City airport, but unfortunately the Atlantic City airport isn't convenient unless you're flying to Florida (YAY!!!). The Philadelphia airport is over one hour from us, which can make it kind of a killer for those early morning flights. It's nice to get to the area the night before and not stress about what can go wrong with such a long drive to catch a flight in the morning. It's nice to roll out of bed at a more decent hour and get a quick shuttle ride to the airport AND get some luggage assistance in the process. At least where I've done it near PHL, the hotel parking is cheaper than the on-site airport parking, also.

I've never done it before, but I did set it up for my trip in two weeks. I'll let you know how it goes.

With the Logan parking lot construction, spaces are at a real premium, and this may be one of the only remaining options as cars get pushed out of Logan and to local off-site lots.

My husband did this with my oldest DD prior to flying to WDW for Spring break. It was a sheraton Suites at Philly and I booked on my starwood points. They said we would have to pay $5 for parking since I booked on points. OK...sounds like a great deal. They never charged him. He asked and they said it's taken care of. So, I guess the desk people thought it was included in the room rate but hey I saved $45.

We've done it several times out of Logan. We always stay at the Holiday Inn Logan.

It is usually around $149 - $200 depending on when you fly. It includes the one night's stay and parking for up to 10 days. It's shuttle runs every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. It only takes 5 minutes and we're always on the shuttle with flight attendants and pilots.

The last time we stayed there (in Nov 2005) it also included a free breakfast but we were leaving way too early in the AM to enjoy it.

We stay there when our flight is really early, otherwise, we just park at the airport (Central Parking).

You can check their Park, Stay and Fly rates at the Holiday Inn Website by first going to Holiday Inn Logan and then clicking on "Packages". Or you can call them directly as well.

Another good Park, Stay and Fly hotel is the Hampton Inn.

I've stayed at the Hyatt and found it pretty good. Of course, you would expect a Hyatt to be good. Comparing prices of the Hyatt and the Hilton, we found a significant difference - check both.

Are you coming from the north by any chance? If so, C&J Trailways offers bus service from Portsmouth and Newburyport to Logan. You can park in their lot for free and tickets are $39 r/t (kids ride free with paying adult). We did this last October and we'll be doing it again in June - it works out great for us.

There is a Hampton Inn that offers this. It includes lodging for one night, weekly parking, and some sort of continental breakfast. Not sure what the regular price is, but if you booked through a travel agent they can book this in addition for you. Our friends do it and they pay $99.

Thanks for all the feed back. The more I've looked into it, the more I'm finding that it's not going to work for our family. Because there are five of us (2 adult and 3 kids), we'd have to book two rooms, and the one place where I could afford to do that has no adjoining rooms. It's working out to be just costly enough that we're better off to park at the airport (their economy lot requires taking a shuttle to the airport) or have a limo take us in. I'm thinking of planning to drive in and call last minute (a day or two ahead) to see if we can get a good rate on a limo. Just have to play it by ear on this one.

I would still keep checking around. We are a family of 5 and we got 1 room with a king bed, and pull out double. Our 3 yo has an inflatable toddler bed. If you have a twin air mattress it could work out. It is so nice not having to worry about parking at the airport. Keep looking into it!!!

We stayed twice last yr at Days Inn with 5 people and only one room, and yes it was listed on the reservation we had 2 adults and 3 children since we figured they'd notice when we got on the shuttle. There were only 2 beds so one child had to sleep on the floor (you can bring a sleeping bag and throw it in the car in the morning before you fly out) but we've never had a problem reserving it or checking in and noone has ever said we needed 2 rooms or asked for extra $$ or required us to get a rollaway bed. I wouldn't exclude this option before calling and asking, maybe this is only for the places where children stay free.

I have never done the stay, park, fly deals. I usually take Logan Express anytime I have to fly. It's $11 per day to park and $20 r/t per person for the ride.
The buses run every 30 minutes, so you almost never have to wait long for a bus to arrive. I use the Braintree terminal, but I know there is one in Framingham also.

Gets expensive when you have a large family though. I would almost think a limo or car service would be more cost effective for a family of 4 or larger.

Yeah, that would be roughly $232.00 for us. Booking two rooms is coming out around $250-$275 (Ramada is the cheapest), economy parking is $176.00 at Logan (Central is $264) and I got answering machines at most of the limo companies. I will try the limo companies on Mon but as expensive as I thought Logan parking was, I'm finding even more expensive options.
We're only an hour from the airport so I really don't want us all to cram into one room at a hotel ($150-200.00) just to save $26.00.

I just got $109 + free parking at the Sheraton in Philadelphia for April 20. The rate includes up to 10 days free parking. Thanks to OP for starting this thread, we were scheduled to stay at the Fairfield and park elsewhere at $9/day + $119 for the hotel. You just saved me about $100.

Our flight is at 6:30 AM on Friday and we are a little over an hour to PHL. We would have to leave by 3:30 to get parking and over to the terminal.

Thanks again for starting this thread and making me aware that hotels did this.

You're totally welcome, but the real thanks goes to everyone who has been kind enough to respond. :)
