It's our first time to WDW and was wondering what exactly you can and can not bring into the parks? Can you bring in food, beverages (cans/plastic bottles)? What would you suggest carrying stuff around in? (We won't have a stroller.)

Just so you know, any bags you carry will be searched as you go in. So if you can fit everything into one bag, part of your group can go on in, instead of taking a long time to get everyone searched. If you carry cameras or other electronics in cases, you have to open your case and show what is inside as you walk by. Other than that, you can have basic things like food etc. Naturally you can't carry weapons and there is no smoking on disney property. Those are really the only rules I can think of off the top of my head.

Since when? There were designated smoking areas in each park the last time I went. I don't smoke and don't want to open that box but just want to make sure proper information is available.

I was under the impression that the parks had designated outdoor smoking areas. Anyone know?

Hi! Welcome to the DIS! When are you going?

You can bring in some snacks and water bottles/coke bottles. Some people have brought in a small soft-sided cooler and packed it with sandwiches, etc.

You are not allowed to bring in cans/glass bottles except baby food. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

You'll get a variety of answers as far as carrying the stuff in, a backpack, fanny pack, tote, messenger bag or like DH who doesn't carry anything beyond what fits in his pockets. It all depends on what you want to carry into the park with you. I personally just carry around what I can carry in a fanny pack - if it doesn't fit the fanny pack then it doesn't come with us to the park.

There are designated smoking areas in the parks. At MK there's one right outside of Big Thunder Mountain that I know of for sure.

No alcohol can be brought into the parks, and no glass containers. At AK, no balloons or disposable plastic straws are allowed. (for the safety of the animals)

As far as carrying stuff, i'd recommend a backpack. Fairly easy to carry, holds enough for a day at the parks and don't tend to get in other people's way.

Smoking IS allowed in the parks, but only in designated smoking areas (consult a guidemap or ask a cast member for the location of the nearest one)

All restaurants are non-smoking (Yeah!! DH would disagree  )

There are designated smoking areas in every park, check the guide maps!!

Thanks so much for the info!! I'm thinking a backpack is probably the way to go for me, with the cameras, snacks for the kids etc. We're going in May!
