Oh man, I just realized something I need to ask about something. I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed in detail and I missed it. Do we have any idea how this will work with the park reservation system? For example, let’s say I have EPCOT reserved for the day. I get up at 7 to purchase a LL pass. Does the system only show me available options at EPCOT since it is the park I have reserved? EPCOT options for the day and other park availability after 2 because I could hop?
I guess I could simplify this by saying that my DH is the biggest Star Wars fan (nerd🙂). March will be our first trip since Star Wars land opened. He is determined to ride ROTR. Will I only have the option to purchase that ride on days I reserved HS?
I know, there is a lot we do not know right now. But any idea?

P.S. I know - we are sell-outs to the current Disney outrage 🙂 for even considering buying a LL pass. However, for a guaranteed chance to ride a ride he is about to wet his pants over, it is an acceptable option. (Just this one time 🤞)

That’s a very good question but you’re right, it’s hard to say without official word from Disney on the details.

All of that said, you owe no one an apology nor are you a sellout if the Genie service is appealing to you. Everyone places value on things that isn’t always in alignment with that of others. I drive a paid off Toyota SUV and choose not to drive a luxury vehicle. Do I begrudge others for driving one? Of course not. On the flip side, some think we’re crazy for owning DVC. It’s your money, your vacation, no one here or on social media is funding it, right?

For my family, time is money. We’re California locals who visit WDW approximately every other year and prefer longer stays rather than going more frequently. We also have demanding jobs, so none of us are into rope dropping. We’re very optimistic Genie is going to work well similar to the way MaxPass did. Add in the fact that my niece who lives in South Carolina didn’t get to ride ROTR when she was down here last month, so although we’d probably forego it ourselves, we want her to experience it so we’ll be purchasing the Lightning add-on.

As noted, Disney has announced the new program but has not yet provided all the details yet to let us know how awful it actually is. Nevertheless, the announcement made potentially indicates that you will be able to make Lightning Lane reservations at any park on a given day regardless of which one you enter. The announcement mentioned:

"Lightning Lane selections will be made on the same day of your visit and can be used across multiple theme parks, great for those who love the Park Hopper option."

I think that for the GP+ for tier 2 rides, your options at 7 am will be limited to the park you have reserved since it is next available time. But, it does sound like for LL pass, you should be able to buy at any.

However, right now, you can't get into the VQ for ROTR unless it is your HS park day, so it seems that you might only be allowed to buy if have it reserved since its for those who cant get a VQ. As mentioned, there has been no clear explanation yet of how it will work for IAS
