Park reservation making issues

Hi,

I posted on another thread but today was the day i could make reservations for my trip in late august/early september. Imagine my surprise when the only date available to book right now was a full 5 days before we even arrive. We have 3 day park hopper. I have dates not available for the entire last week of August. Nothing is coming up for September yet.

What do I do next? Do I call DLR? Do I wait a few days. Even WDW wasn't this frustrating with the park reservation system.

(also it says we are magic key holders.....is this what DLR is calling park hopper ticket package holders?)

I believe August 20th is the latest day available (120 day mark), and DLR does not do duration of stay, it is a day-by-day basis. No worries - the reservation availability will be coming up soon!

And no - it shouldn't say you are magic key users if you have park hoppers, that's the AP program. Mine does not say that (we also have hoppers).

Ugh ok. Thank you. One thing WDW does better as of right now imho.

So whatever days I want I reserve exactly 6 months prior? So basically If i want to reserve lets say August 29th, I have to wait until next week?

Just wait, reservations for park days do not sell out same day like ADRs, at least not for non-holiday dates. You do not need to stress about it so much.
I know I know......i am just freaking out as we have never done DLR before (well my mom did when she lived in CA as a teenager but that was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away) and it is do different

It is and I know you are used to WDW but DLR is so much easier and simple. You're staying on site right? You'll get your dates just fine no matter what, reservations are basically all but guarantied if you are staying onsite :)

The park reservations are pretty easy/lower stress than ADRs now for DLR. I waited until all 5 of my days were available to make my reservations, but you can also just make them a day at a time. I did it middle of the day without setting any alarms or anything.

For ADRs, I was up early and checking repetitively and had my sister logged in as me to also help snag the ones I wanted that were a top priority, each day when my 60 day opened. It was more stressful than the park reservations, but in the end I basically got what I wanted, even for our large group (between 7-13 at any given meal).

Good Neighbor (Fairfield Inn right across the street)
Mmh, I thought Disney packages only included onsite properties.

Regardless, I promise you'll be fine. End of August is not gonna sell out in months if it ever does, as FeistyDisneyMom says, you can simply wait till your last day and do them all at once or check every day from August 29th and do one by one. I waited like a week after they became available to do mine for early August and I had no issues.

Save all the stress for ADRs once you are 60 days out haha.

And actually, I haven't found the ADRs to be nearly as bad as WDW ADRs. I have been making them this week with two more days to go. I have gotten everything I wanted. Maybe my choices are easy. We are doing Trader Sam's though. Be online 6am PT, which is great for the rest of the US, because it's not the crack of dawn. Also, doing each day one at a time doesn't seem as stressful as all at once, like WDW. I thought it would be more of a pain than it has been. I make 2-3 ADRs every day right when it opens, and I am done in 10-15 minutes or less. WDW ADRs can take a while, especially if the system is being wonky. Disneyland's seems relatively more stable somehow. We go to WDW all the time and know that system well.

Others have given you good advice, but just wanted to add a tidbit I learned recently. I had a problem where our dates should be showing, but weren’t showing released yet. She advised me to use Chrome in incognito mode to get them to come up - and it worked.

I always use chrome so I will def do incognito more when I try today

If it makes you feel any better, my trip dates didn't get difficult until about 4 weeks before. Now there isn't any availability for park hopper guests, so I'm stuck with what I picked originally, but I'm happy with it, so it's fine.
I didn't, however, manage to get any ADRs, because I didn't really want any until a week or two ago. I only want Cafe Orleans, but if we don't get it, I don't care that much.

When I look at the calendar for August, every single day is open for both park hopper and single park guests, except the last week, which hasn't been released yet.
There's no way it will all get reserved in the next week.
