Park report, crowds and parking structure exit tip

We made rope drop today, as per usual. Crowds were about a third larger than average. But given the time of year, they weren't bad at all. We were, essentially, first on PP. Actually, a couple who are friends of mine downgraded several months ago to Flex Pass and now they don't come as often. So when they are there, I always let them go ahead of me/I do what I can to help them to be first on PP. So they were first, I was second and some other friends were third.

Otherwise, the visit was largely uneventful except that it was my last park visit until I return to LA for Sunday Jan 5. For my first four rides on Buzz , two scores came through and two didn't. The ratio improved later slightly and fortunately my score of 2,040,000 came through. Friends are still there now and just sent me a message that I'm still at the #1 slot on the scoreboard :-).

Incidentally, many of you may recall my dissatisfaction with the post-refurb charge for cups at Pizza Planet. An empty foam cup (I bring my own tea and simply get a cup and some hot water) costs $3.40. Literally an empty cup. I can actually buy a full cup of tea at Starbucks for nearly sixty cents less. Sometimes the CM at the register will simply let we have one but recently they haven't. So I went to Starbucks and they let me have one, no problem at all. Note for future park-visiting tea drinkers :-).

Here's a little parking structure tip I picked up as I left at around 3:30. Up until that time, guests are directed to exit via M&Fs. However, after ≈ 3:30, guests are directed to exit via the Pixar structure. Why does this matter? Because when you exit via M&Fs, the exit ramp feeds smoothly onto the 5. With Pixar, you have to drive farther (slightly) and do battle with a few lights. I asked the CM traffic controller if I could opt for M&Fs. She wasn't sure if that exit would still be open but I took the risk and it paid off. So -- you're all now on notice ;-).

Rob, thank you so much for always posting wonderful pics from the park! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!. Looking forward to your next post in a few weeks.

Frohe Weihnachten und einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr. Thank you Rob for your pictures. They always make me feel like beeing there.

Let’s continue with the good wishes...
Frohe Weihnachten Rob! (Merry Christmas) und ein gesundes Neues Jahr (and a healthy new year)

We made rope drop as well but we weren’t early enough to get up to the front to try and say hello! But I saw your score on Buzz. We thought it was crowded but very manageable yesterday. We got so much done before our 11:40 lunch and we are getting better and better at optimizing max pass. We also took advantage of the slightly lighter lines during the parades and rode a few things. I thought our last ride was going to be an evening IASW, but as we were walking by Toad, our three year old asked to ride “Toady” and the line was short, so we did. Saturday I had the Mickey chocolate peppermint shake at DCA and it was amazing. I always love your treat pictures!

As we left I felt a little sad. Our flex passes are blocked beginning Friday, so it was our last time to see the park in all it’s holiday splendor until next year. My youngest will be totally depressed next time she rides HM. 😂 This was our first holiday season at Disneyland, and we were fortunate enough to go twice for weekend trips and one day trip. My favorite memories are my three year old falling in love with Jack and Sally and the amazing Haunted Mansion Overlay, and the wonder of seeing holiday IASW for the first time. We did not make WOC or the fireworks.... hoping for that for next year when the youngest is a bit older.

Merry Christmas and enjoy your trip! Enjoy being with family and friends and Happy New Year!

Sounds like a good day! And safe travels home and have a wonderful Christmas and New Years with your family. Stay warm!!!

We went on Saturday. Early, the crowds were great. But around 11 AM, the crowds got very bad (and we were on both sides and it was bad in both parks).

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It was a pleasure to meet you at Buzz on the 8th. My DD got the highest score on Buzz that she has ever gotten thanks to your tips. She loved it. Thanks! I like how you are so giving with your information and helping others to be successful.

You mean they are blocked beginning Saturday. Friday requires a Reservation, but is still available for both parks.

Merry Christmas Rob & a very Happy New Year to you! Thanks for all the Great Pictures you post :cool1:

My pleasure. Good news, though. I plan to post archive pics when I'm home in Chicago - i.e., pics from past trips. I suppose you can follow my posts to see them, if you're interested. Incidentally, where I live in Chicago is within two miles of the house where Walt was born.

Thanks, everyone, for the holiday wishes! It's often nice to go home... but so many friends have moved away in the past six years since my move to LA that it's sometimes a little sad. A close friend leaves in a few days so I'll only get to see her for a short time on Wednesday... if at all. But oh well -- that's how life is sometimes.

You posting pics from Chicago is a treat for us! Being that close to Disney history is awesome!
