In my researching I find that we have to pay an additional $17 a day to park is this correct? is there something you can by to make it cheaper or is there anywhere you can park to et a shuttle anything to help us on this cost this trip is very tight budget and this means an extra $100 we were not planning on being we will be in two cars

Guests staying off-site do indeed pay the parking charge of $17 per vehicle.

Years back, some would park at DTD and then use the shuttles, but now the parking at DTD incurs charges.

Depending on your hotel/resort there may be a shuttle available for your use. Some hotels include it in the resort's daily charge. (You pay the resort fee whether you use the shuttle or not) Other accommodations have Mears shuttle pick you up. This is a van/taxi service so you will be paying per person versus the per vehicle charge.

The only way to avoid the park parking fee is to stay on-site. WDW on-site guests receive a parking pass as part of their resort benefits.

Are you staying on property or off. As said earlier in a post, parking for the theme parks is included in your cost if you are on property. If you are off property check with your hotel. Many have shuttles that go to the Disney property. Even if its not to the park you need you can always switch once you arrive onto a disney transportation bus. It just may take a long time, but it would save money. It may save you money even to consider switching to a different hotel that was either onsite or one that has a shuttle. If you do decide to pay for parking and park hop you do not have to pay again for parking the same day. Just show your receipt and parking stub at the gate.

Sorry, but if you are staying off site and driving to the parks there is no way to avoid the fee.

Can you save money on something else? Taking meals into the parks? Sharing meals? Bringing in your own water?

Between parking for free and Tables in Wonderland...sometimes upgrading ONE of your passes to an Annual Pass makes sense. For me to upgrade a 10 day hopper it was $275 more to do the upgrade...if you can save that much+$100 on parking at $17 a day and 20% off table service meals, it might be worth it for you.

Just fyi we asked siri to get us to the magic kingdom from north of orlando . . .took us a back way in where we didn't have to pay :) Ask siri she knows all the answers.

No, it doesn't. In fact, that's the reason why there are no direct buses between DTD and the parks - too many people were parking for free at DTD in order to avoid paying for parking at the parks. If you were to park at DTD in order to get to a park, you would have to transfer at a resort, which adds too much time to traveling (plus makes it impossible to make rope drop since buses going to and from DTD don't start that early) to make it practical.

The way to make the parking at DTD work is you would have to park there then you would have to talk to Saratoga and pick up whatever but you want from Saratoga. I know the last time I was down there, which unfortunately was a year ago, they were testing doing park to DTD buses starting in late afternoon. The bigger issue would be getting back to DTD.

We have alway just got on the first bus back to a resort that we saw and then transferred to DTD. It does take an hour or so, but if you want to save money then it might be worth it to you.

This question was brought up the other day. And it was pointed out that with all of the money you are spending on park tickets, you are wasting more money than you are saving by spending 2-3 hours transferring around.

Parking at DTD to avoid paying the Disney parking fee is indeed being penny wise and pound foolish.

OP--If you haven't checked out the budget board yet, you really should do so! They have all sorts of great ways to save money while at WDW that won't suck up so much of your time.
