When I was at IOA last weekend, I noticed the park maps have now been consolidated into a single two-park map instead of separate ones for each park. It's really handy to have just one map to deal with instead of two. The only thing is...the map isn't as detailed as the two single maps but it's still great to have them together. The pictures below aren't the best but....

Just thought I would advise people. :teeth:

Thanks for the info - I think it's a great idea.....looks good too...

It's been a 2 park map for awhile now. I would say at least 4 months. I went in January and it was like that.

Well that was my first time for a while and I know a lot of people haven't seen them yet.

Thanks for posting, I didn't realise they had changed them either.

I also don't like them like this because there is less detail. But oh well. You lose some and you gain some. LOL

I'm looking at the maps I have hanging on my wall from a couple years ago and the 2 park map looks exactly like those, except it's all on one page. . . and the maps are a little smaller. . . I like the all in one deal. Thanks for the pic and the info :goodvibes

When the 2 park map is completely unfolded, is it the same size as the old 1 park maps?

In a way...it makes sense. More convenient too.....if you use the maps
:rolleyes1

It seems like park maps at Universal and other parks are getting the budget cut treatment,I don't mind the 2 parks in one map Universal is using, but overall it seems like parks in general are consolidating information, making the guides smaller or cheapening out some guides. For example over at EPCOT for the last 10 years or so I've always collected the Food and Wine and Flower and Garden Festival guides. They used to be good sized book style guides, last year for the F&W they were just giving out these cheap looking pamphlets for the events and concerts happening only the week of your visit, everything else that was happening in other weeks was omitted so you couldn't even plan for future visits. For this year's F&G festival they gave out similar pamphlets but at least these had most of the festival info for the entire festival.Even during HHN at Universal I've had issues getting the HHN guide during certain visits, one time I remember the event already had started and a manager had to physically go get me the guides from somewhere backstage, I'm worthless at HHN if I can't plan my night around the show times that night.

Budget cuts aside, I can see a "Green Aspect" of the 2 in 1 guide. If you figure that on the average day they print say 15000 maps for US and 15000 for IOA thats 30000 pieces of paper.put everything on 1 and you can probably cut back on paper as now the entire weeks worth of maps for both parks can be done in 1 map for the entire week.So that same 15000 maps that may have been good for 2 days can be stretched to 3 or 4 days worth.

Theres 1 thing though that I found amusing with the new maps.Ive seen them since Christmas combined.
When you pick up the map and you read the title page, then unfold it, the map is upside down. You have to flip it to read it correctly.Noticed that a few times in the last few months.

Yes, I noticed this too. I don't get why it's like that. Also, there was a insert page that listed show times and rides that don't open with the park..b/c the new map doesn't have enough space to list it all. also I couldn't find anything that listed the restaurant times..I couldn't find when Mythos opened..I was surprised it didn't open till almost noon I think and only stayed open for like 2 1/2 hours.

They only had the showtime paper for the month of January. The maps now include the showtimes and the refurb dates for the different attractions.

I like the way they have the maps now. :) All my maps from this year have been the two-in-one.

Wow that's a great idea!!! One less thing to carry around the parks lol. Thanks for the info .

The two park map looks to be a great idea for all the reasons previously posted. Anyone have an idea of how they will integrate HPW? I guess they will just add more notes and a bit more drawing?:confused3

oh ok. You can tell I haven't been since January. I didn't see how they could fit that all in.

Not sure why the map is inverted when you open it. I put that into the fuzzy logic column. It makes sense to someone-just not me.
When we were there 2 weeks ago, they had the show times listed under the name of the show. You just have to know what show is in what area to find them.Matter of fact we got a little concerned when we saw Beetlejuice was closing for rehab. Its one fo our favorite shows at US.Turns out it was down for the day to fix some chronic issues and safety concerns. The one thing I dont remember seeing, is the rest times.Theres been at least 2 times we wanted to eat at Richters and found it was either closing or closed.

Most likely thats what theyll do.They can change the scale a little bit.Plus not being to scale to begin with helps.
