:headache: Take two - tried to post this earlier today and it locked up on me.

Anyway, our two hotel choices are the Park Inn or the Radisson. I've been reading reviews online and trying to get an idea, but wondered if anyone here could help my confused head.

DH wants the Radisson since he thinks they are more upscale. But from what I've read, the building was a Holiday Inn or something and not up to Radisson standards.

I want the Park Inn, mainly for how close it is. And I've read nicer reviews on that than on the Radisson. But those that liked the Radisson, really raved about it.

Those are our choices since DH works for the parent company. It was one of the ways I got him to agree to the trip. lol

Thanks in advance for any help or reviews or pics or anything!

I've never stayed at either (just to throw that disclaimer out there) but I've heard more bad than good about the Park Inn. The comments I've heard refer dark rooms, and I've heard a few insect (cockroach) complaints. So I'd go with the Radisson. The Disney parks are still a fair walk from the Park Inn!
(If you can swing it, check priceline or travelocity for good deals on the Sheraton Anaheim. It's BEAUTIFUL and you can sometimes get it for $80/night! It's right around the corner from the parking lots).

We stayed at the Park Inn (3 adults, 3 kids) June 6-10 and had a very good experience. We had a 2 room suite. It was nothing fancy, but spacious and clean. The pool was fine for our kids (ages 7, 6, and 4) and we could see the fireworks from the pool area. The free breakfast was very basic--pastries, muffins, cereal, fruit, juice, milk, coffee. The walk to the park was very short--there are only a couple of hotels closer to the park. We would stay at the Park Inn again.

Definitely Park Inn!! It is always our first choice and they usually have a web-rate on their website: www.bei-hotels.com Radisson Maingate is bad. Rundown, the elevators weren't working (we were on the 5th floor) and the hairdryer fell apart when released from its holder. We stayed there in May as Park Inn, Tropicana Inn and Carousel were booked. We thought the Radisson was a good deal but in the end it was disappointing and a waste. It is also a long walk to the parks compared to Park Inn.
If you can't get the above named hotels, the Fairfield is also a much better choice than Radisson. Radisson also charges for parking; the others don't charge and they are directly across from the entrance to DL/DCA.

Just to let you know, both Park Inn and Radisson are under the Carlson Company brand, so I assume either property would meet Carlson's standard of quality. Of course, there's always going to be bad experiences at any hotel, but IMO, you'd be ok at either place, depending on what your lodging needs are.

For the convenience, I would recommend Park Inn. Plus, I like that pool on the 2nd floor w/a view of DL.

If you don't plan on spending a lot of time at the hotel (ie, just going to use it to sleep at), you really can't beat the ease in just walking across the street to the parks' entrances.

I cannot comment on the Radisson but was pleased with our stay at the Park Inn. Yes, it is basic but our room was very clean and I am very anal about that! That pool area is wonderful for watching the fireworks, one of the two times in all of our visits to Disneyland we actually opted to watch fireworks from outside the parks. DH camcorded the whole thing and in some ways being a bit further but still close offered a better view (that was for the holiday fireworks though and I hear that the new show needs to be seen in the park with the castle and Matterhorn in view). The walk to the parks was so easy, that was the main selling point. Also, my kids loved having the two gift shops right there to get some Disney themed merchandise for so much cheaper. They also had a nice small laundry room that was never busy. The free breakfast was pretty basic but the emphasis is on "free" considering what you will spend on food in the parks! We usually stay onsite but would return here again in a minute for another budget trip. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for all the replies! :sunny: I will print them out and talk to DH. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions, too. lol
