Hello there

The park hour calendar seems off for December, it shows December 1st is a Sunday for 2017? which it is not. and that the 31st is a Tuesday.

Also no hours yet for January. Do we know when they would normally come out? Waiting to see about Saturday Jan 6th.

Thank you

6 months is too early? Wow. ok! so when do the hours normally come out? We want to firm up which day we will be going to US, hours will affect our choice of day.
Thanks!

Early hours are usually set for blocks of time. Like 6 weeks it'll be one park. It doesn't toggle daily. So, a big chunk of dates will be released very shortly before hand (like 1-3 weeks). Depending on how the block of dates fall, you could know end of October or might not be until right before your trip. There will be at least one park opening early but you're going to have to just pick if you really want to do it 6 months early.
ETA- wait, are you more curious about early entry or just general park hours? I might have answered the question wrong. :)

Just general park hours. ie if there is a special event or early entry day on Sat Jan 6, then maybe that is not the right day for us to go. Or if it closes early like 6pm for example :) We are only planning on 1 studios day, and will visit US as we have Simpson fans in our midst. lol

That's funny a friend was just there and their early ours switched days back and forth

Hi everyone! I was wondering if Universal has extra nighttime hours for Hotel guests. We will be there Aug 16-19 and it looks like they close at 8 on night and 9 the other nights.

Thanks for your help. This is our first time at Universal.:)

I have never seen evening hours, as well they are termed "Early Entry" with UO, so I don't think so.

Obviously we love going to Universal: we've done a few extended stays onsight, and will be doing another one in a few weeks. But if there's one thing that I think really needs a rethink, it's the park hours.

Universal needs to keep the parks open later than they do - especially between June and August.

Every time I get a Loews survey at the end of our hotel stints, I blast them on how late the theme parks are open - yes I know it's not Loews that controls the hours, but I'm hoping they have some influence.

Last August (if I recall correctly - but I could be wrong) there was a Sunday night that had the parks closing at like 8-9pm??? We were not thrilled.

No problem, we had dinner at Disney springs/shopped, and scooted over to Disney World.

Since we were staying at Porto-fino we would have much rather had dinner at City Walk and spent the evening/night at the HP attractions (specifically Diagon Alley, which I think is - hands down - the best themed night attraction at both Uni/Disney), but instead - between dinner and shopping - we spent somewhere between $400-$600 at the mouse house.

I understand that there are huge operating costs in keeping parks open late, but at absolute minimal you've got at least 3 packed on-sight hotels, and any number of walk-ins etc. (with the other Hotels - even more!) - and you're closing your attractions down at 8-9pm in the summer months????

I guarantee you, let me repeat, I guaranteed you! - there's money to be made .... maybe not hand over fist like Universal is used to, but bottom line, I wanted to spend a good chunk of vacation budget at Universal, but gave it to their competitor - because the park hours are far too restrictive for my family, and I suspect many others as well.

Furthermore (apologies for the long post) - the parks are more geared towards older themes/guests (although Dr. Sues area/theme is fantastic! - I love it) - here's another reason to stop the early close non-sense.

Between June and September (labour day weekend), there shouldn't be a single night that the parks close before 10pm/11pm - and some extra night hours for hotel guests would be a bonus (but I guess ONE miracle at a time :-)).

Ok end of rant .... we'll be there in four weeks.

zeb, I absolutely agree with your post. We love theme parks at night, because we really enjoy the lighting, and were very disappointed with how early the parks closed last August. This year we are going the end of Sept to the beginning of Oct and of course the parks will close earlier than we want( and I know about HHN).

I completely agree! Being our first time to Universal, I assumed (which I know not to do...:rotfl2:) that the hours would be at least until 10pm. I was planning on buying a ticket for the Wednesday night we fly in (at 7pm) like I always do for Disney but I think that is pretty pointless since it closes at 9pm that night and the other nights as well. One night during our stay closes at 8pm:confused3. I wasn't sure if there is a nighttime event that they are closing for maybe?

With teenagers, nighttime is our favorite time but will have to readjust that for this trip. I'll just have to figure out how to get them out of the bed before 10am:eek::eek:

In general I think the hours are ok. For July it's open until 10:00 pm every night (Same as Magic Kingdom). In August until 9:00 every night (except the 18th which is 8:00, so maybe there is some late night event that night they need to clear the park for).

To me the difference comes down to crowd/line waits. At Universal, it's simply not as busy as say MK, plus many guests have EP at Universal. Guests should be able to do the majority of what they want to do in a park during the given hours. So for an apples to apples comparison when you take into consideration crowd sizes and average attraction wait times (with and without EP) you don't need as many park hours in UO vs. say MK.

And I'll take Early Entry every day + unlimited EP as the main on-site perk vs some EMH's a couple of days in the week.

IOA won't have park hours after 10 pm

Residential area nearby and later hours would have to be approved by the city

For two different years, IOA held a portion of HHN and coasters had to stop operating at an earlier time due to city restrictions
That's the only time I have experience ioa with late hours

Would be nice if IOA in the future could stay open until 10:00
Have no idea if that could happen In the future years

The only times I know of the parks staying open late are when there is a buy out for private parties

In another group where I post, they have a buy out party scheduled for an early September date

It starts after the park is closed and the potter section will be opened for it
One price covers all for the event

If I did not have an October trip already booked, I would have jumped on the special potter night event

Absolutely agree with you, but I got some news for you, We have been to Disney each August for a few years now and my favorite thing is going to the magic kingdom late at night. Well apparently they have changed that. Now maybe one night a week its opened past 10pm and thats extra magic hours which aren't that fun to go during. Previously the earliest close was 11pm and usually open until midnight on normal nights. It could just be new pandora messing it up, but if universal were to be open until 10pm, thats basically the same.

I visited for the first time 6/21-6/24 with my family and we were a little disheartened by closing at 9pm/10pm coming from WDW. Not that WDW has much later hours but 11pm or midnight would be nice on those hot summer days. Over our 3 night stay, we left by 1pm and didn't even want to go back until after 6pm. It's tougher with my aged kids and the fact that they are early birds, but not one of us wanted to step out into those parks at 2pm
