I apologize if this has been answered on another thread...but....

If you were going to the World for say...5 days...and you wanted to park hop on a couple of them...for $6 more you could get a 7 day pass and burn 2 days of the pass in one day, therefore saving the $35 Park Hopper charge.

Are they not going to permit burning 2 days of a pass in 1 day any longer?

No they will not allow that with the new tickets - its printed somewhere in the mountains of information that has been coming out.

The ATS ticketing system looks at your admission in terms of "number of days", and whether or not your ticket has park hopping. Meaning - under the new system - you'd have 7 days of admission on a 7 day non-hopping ticket - NOT 7 admissions through a turnstile. Does that make sense?

And, you never could burn 2 days like that in one day. The admission media is changing, but the ATS ticketing system is not.

The new tickets will work much like plus options on current park hopper plus tickets. That's the reason that two DIFFERENT people can't use two plus options on the same ticket on the same day. (Mom goes into Blizzard Beach. Passes the ticket to her son. Computer denies entry to son) That's also why if you buy the current 3-day/3-park pass, you can't use two days to visit two parks on the same day. Say on Monday, you go to Magic Kingdom in the morning. Then later on Monday, try to go to Epcot. When you put your ticket in, the computer can only say to itself "This ticket has been used today, but not here at Epcot. This ticket does not allow park-hopping." It then won't release the turnstile. No different with the new tickets without hopping abilities. :)

Thanks for your replies. By the way, I should clarify...I was really just asking out of curiosity. I'm thrilled with this new structure and I'm not so cheap that I would actually try what I posted above. I think this is the best move Disney could have made for US and THEM. This might be a blow to Universal since going to Disney for an extra day (if you have a 4-7 day pass) will be so inexpensive compared to a single day at their parks.

Could someone clue me in about the new tickets? I heard that admission was going up, but that's the only thing I heard. My main questions are about what's changed. When are the new tickets in effect, are there different options for multi-day park hoppers (like a 2 or 3 day- I know wishful thinking!), do they now have an expiration date etc.

We are cruising on the Magic in January and doing WDW for a couple days after. I was going to buy 4 day PH's to use later in the summer, but now am curious as to whether that's the best move. Please enlighten me! :wizard:

Disney tickets are a WHOLE new ballgame. You start with a base ticket and add options. The Base Ticket is valid 14 days from the date of first use, and will get you into ONE park per day. (All prices liste dinclude 6.5% FL Sales Tax)

From there, you can pay to add on options. Options include:

Park Hopping Option: $37.28 per TICKET. Whether your ticket is for 1 day or 10 days, you will pay $37.28

Magic Plus Pack Option: Flat rate of $47.93 per TICKET. However, the number of days of your base ticket determines how many visits you get to any of the following: Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Wide World of Sports, Pleasure Island, and DisneyQuest. There a chart below showing how many visits you get for the number of days of your base ticket.

Premium Option: Flat rate of $85.20 per ticket. Includes both Park Hopping, and Magic Plus Pack Option.

No-Expiration Option: Price based on the number of days of your base ticket.

I didn't think you were cheap! :) Just answering your question. I'm the type of person that likes to ask "Why?", so I try to answer before it's asked. Plus, I'm just a REALLY big geek, and am fascinated by Disney's ticketing and ticketing computers.

Wow! That's a bit confusing. When does this start, Dan?

I went to the Disney store on Saturday and was told that they still had 4 day park hoppers- in your opinion, based on what you know (you seem to have a good grasp of this situation) should I buy these to use for the one day after our cruise and save the three or four remaining days for this summer or should I wait and purchase the new tickets?

PS- We are not interested in the Plus features (waterparks, DisneyQuest etc.) just park hopping.

Thanks for the reply! Now please point me in the right direction as to what I should do. :earseek:

I'm going to assume that you'll only need 3 park hopping days for your vacation over the summer. If you need more, just let me know and I can refigure for you. (I'm giving you prices including tax, and for one adult ticket)

The 4 day park hopper, advance purchase, with tax will be $233.24.

With Magic Your Way, per ticket, you'd pay $100.91 for a one day park hopper after your cruise. For three day park hoppers, you'd pay $219.40. For a grand total of $320.31.

So, if AND ONLY IF, you're going to use three days of admission over the summer, get the 4 day park hoppers NOW. If you need more than 3 days, let me know!! :)

Did I say just "please" Dan?

I meant "pretty, pretty please"!

I am so confused about this new ticketing stuff!

PS- Is this posted "officially" anywhere yet, or is this info. still all "on the sly?"

What if it was one day now, and four days in the summer?

PS- We are two adults and two children one DS9 (even still when we go in the summer) and DD5.

You must think that I am really slow, but I just am not grasping this whole concept of all the "add-on" stuff!

Thanks SO much!

This new ticketing thing is giving me a whopper of a headache... I must just be stupid or something, but I can't figure it out. I'm just trying to decide if we should scramble and buy hoppers now, or can wait.

All we need are 4-day hoppers, period. We go the first week of February. If we buy the hoppers in advance, they're $215.13 with tax, for the adult one. If I am reading the chart right, a 4-base-day ticket with the park hopping option would cost us $232.03?? And that's only if there is not tax on the $35 PH option... that doesn't sound like much, but this is a very budgeted trip.

If we *did* wait and did this with the MYW stuff, would we still essentially be able to do a length-of-stay like we used to, with them adding the park passes right onto our room cards for convenience?

Sorry for sounding so addle-brained... but I need to figure out the best option for us.

It's interesting -- the price for the non-expiration starts to really jump after the 4th day, and then goes up more and more each day.

I guess the point is that they assume that a certain number of days purchased on the base tickets will go unused when the 14 days expires. The extra add on is to recapture that loss.

I take it there is no way to later add on the non-expiration option after the original ticket is purchased?

Looks to me as though they best per day price for non-expiring hopper tickets is the 7 day. Essentially, you can get a non expiring 7 day hopper for $307, or $30 a day. This seems a little better than you could do in the past if you like to buy tickets in advance to lock up current prices.

There is tax on the park hopper portion, Gina. It's $37.28 w/tax according to Mousesavers. Check out all of the pricing there.

I also noticed what you did, Lark. It looks like if you are purchasing advance tickets to lock in prices, you need to go 7 day. We are so used to park-hopping now, I'm not sure if we can break our "habit."

With us going this summer, this seems to be the way to go. It's just going to be tough to "bite the bullet" right after Christmas and right before a 7-day cruise. Yikes! :earseek:

Thanks Dan et al. I am finally figuring it all out via this thread and Mousesavers. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! puckerup:

I just did the math with the price structure from mousesavers. In my case of one adult and one child base ticket with the park hopping option for 5 days it would save me just under $10.00 after tax vs. the park hopper. I guess anytime you can save it's worth it. The expiration doesn't bother me as I my self will have an annual pass and now if we want to go back for a weekend we can do it with magic your way instead of buying 4 or 5 day park hoppers.

Ive been trying to figure out the best route to go. Here is some background information.

We go once a year and in the past have bought 4 day park hoppers. One year we did not use all the days due to a sick child and we couldnt go to the parks. We saved those hoppers to use the next year, and we did. very nice that they didnt expire so we didnt feel like we lost a lot of money since we couldnt go to the parks all the days in that vacation.

So I guess what I really need to figure out is

How important is park hopping in my vacation.....is it worth the extra money.....yes, it is.

How important is no expiration.....two visits we used all the days on our tickets...one we didnt and used them the next year.....somewhat important.

We do plan on going back again probably around the same time.

Maybe the 10 days MYW no expiration, park hopper is worth it. That would break down to two five day park hoppers and the cost is 366.36 as opposed to two give day MYW tickets at 272.65 x 2.

This is all so confusing. LOL Me and DH are going to discuss what we plan on doing tonite as far as what tickets we are purchasing for our Jan 22 vacation.

Not quite as easy as it used to be picking your ticket option, but definitely a money saver if certain things arent important to your vacation like park hopping, expiration, etc.

I cant imagine how confused people are who aren't as knowledgeable about Disney as we are. I thought I knew the least expensive way, but not anymore. LOL

You can add no-expiration after you start using the ticket, but before it expires, if you need it. Cost is based on the orignial ticket length, not remaining days. If no one gets sick/tired, you won't have to, but you can, and you don't have to do it in advance.

(This info gleaned from the post of a travel agent who has access to the TA pages and posts on DIS.)

For help in figuring MYW ticket costs, I created a little calculator in the form of an Excel spreadhseet.

It's here.

I'd reccomend a 5 day Park Hopper from the Disney Store.

MYW only works out to a better value if you needed a week's worth of admission.

A 5 day MYW with the park hopping and non-expiration is $280.10 at the gate and $272.64 in advance. You would need to get the non-expiration on a 5 day, because getting a 1 day MYW and a 4 day MYW is astronomically expensive.

The 5 day park hopper is $244.95 at the Disney Store.
