Park hopping epiphany

When i said often, I should have been more specific. I meant to say over the course of several years.

WE are DVC owners, and usually go 2-3 times a year, but only for long weekends mostly. Even with the DVC discount for the APs it wouldn't be to our advantage.

OK gottcha! I can see where a couple of ten day nonexpiring tickets would be better than an AP then. I usually average four trips a year and go for nine days each trip, so an AP works out better for me.

You have no idea how jealous I am right now :)

Glad I read this thread. I always learn something on the boards. I have wondered about the tickets and how they worked since they changed them to the new way. We usually get APs and don't worry about this, but it is nice to know how this works.

We are doing the cruise in October and plan staying at WDW for 3 days after the 4 day cruise. Being a DVC member do you get hopping with being a DVC member or do you still have to buy the option?

The only tickets for which DVC Members have a different pricing structure is APs and PAPs.

You might want to go over to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum for answers to all your questions. You can click on the link in my signature to get there directlyt.

I actually would recommend the opposite - just getting base tickets. You can always leave and come back to the same park. I can't imagine going to a park at night without a handful of fastpasses that I accumulated earlier in the day. Either I wouldn't ride any of the most popular rides or I'd have to wait in line!

Here is why I do hoppers...

I don't want my main touring day at DHS to be a night with Fantasmic! I would rather go on a different day and have (in general) lower crowds and then do Fantasmic! on another day. It is the same with MK and the parade and fireworks. However, I don't want to be stuck not being able to do any other park that day just so I can do Fantasmic! that night.

It also allows me some more flexibility with dining. For example, one day we are going to do a later start at MK (the night we will do the parade and fireworks, but not our "main" MK day). So, we are going to take a slow morning, head to Epcot to eat lunch (Via Napoli), and then head to MK when we are done.

However, that all being said, what works for me may not work for others. I just wanted to give my point of view on it.
