ok so since i'm still new to the whole Disney exprience (last time i was there was with my parents and i was 12 lol) i have some questions.

i see a lot of different talk about all these restaurants and what's good what's bad etc. and a lot of these places have great looking menus and i would love to try them out but i'm a bit confused about how to do so. we'll be park hopping for a few days and i was wondering how do you get to some places from MK like the California Grill...which from what i can gather from everyones review i HAVE to go eat at. like can i just hop on a bus to the contemporary? same thing with Boma or Jiko do i just get on the bus going to AK lodge?

i know to most this may sound like a really dumb question but i'm seriously clueless about this haha also i see Boma is a buffet are there many other buffets in Disney?

and the last question...i got my tickets from ticketmania a few weeks ago and i heard you can put these on your room key...how do you go about doing that? and is it a good idea to do so? or should i just stick with that i have

thank for all the answers!!

Hi.

If you have specific route questions, post them up and we can tell you the best way. There are no resort to resort buses. Sometimes a taxi can be the best method.

MK like the California Grill....simply take the monorail.
Boma/Jiko do i just get on the bus going to AK lodge...that will work if you are at a park or downtown

To get to the California Grill from MK, the easiest thing is to hop on the Monorail to the resorts as it will take you directly to the Contemporary. I'm not certain about Boma but I believe you could either 1.) drive to AKL or 2.) take the resort bus from whatever park you are at.

As for the ticket question, we have always purchased a package including the tickets so they have been on the room key, along with the dining plan. For me, that is definitely the way to go. I would just ask during check-in if they can transfer the ticket to the room key, though I would suspect it depends on the type of ticket.

Also wanted to let you know that you can walk from MK to Contemporary/California Grill.

Yup, we find this route easiest. It's actually pretty quick and we usually just miss that monorail, darn it! :teeth:

You might want to keep this site as a reference! You can look up travel times from point a to point b for just abot anywhere in WDW. It also tells you which routes can get you there. I.E.: a boat, monorail,. bus, etc.

Look under "More Magic" then "Transportation Wizard"

There are a bunch of buffets at WDW. Those I can remember off-hand are Boma, Crystal Palace (in MK), Chef Mickey's (in Contemporary), Trails End (at Ft. Wilderness campground - best bargain at WDW!), and Hollywood and Vine (in MGM). I know there are more, I just can't think of them all...

You might also like the "family-style" places, such as 'Ohana (in the Polynesian - DO NOT MISS THIS ONE, IT'S THE BEST AT WDW!), and Liberty Tree Tavern (in MK). Family-style means fixed menu, all-you-can-eat, but they bring it to you instead of putting it on a buffet.

Check here for menus to all WDW restaurants and eateries:

This is very easy; you do it when you check in. Just give your tickets to the CM and tell him what you want.

However, I advise against it. The tickets you got from TicketMania are Tyvec (a Mylar and paper substance, very tough), and the room keys at Disney Resorts (called Key to the World cards) are plastic. Something about the plastic KTTW cards makes them much more prone to demagnetization than the Tyvec tickets. Demagnetization means that the magnetic strip gets erased and the card stops working.

When a card gets demagnetized, it's an easy matter to take it to your resort and get a new one; the cards and tickets do not store anything on them except their serial number, so they don't actually lose any of your info when they demagnetize. A demagnetized ticket can be replaced at Guest Relations in the parks, but a demagnetized room key can only be replaced at your resort.

So if your park ticket is on your room key, then you have to go all the way back to your resort to get a new one if it demagnetizes, which can be a royal pain in the middle of a WDW park day. But if you park pass is a seperate Tyvec ticket, then it won't matter if your room key demagnetizes, you can still get into the park.

thanks for all the help...with the amount i've learned from this site this is going to be one heck of a vacation for us! thanks!
