Taking an extended weekend trip to WDW and never been during holiday season. We are trying to decide whether to buy tickets to mickey's very merry christmas party or add park hopper to our tickets - cant do both right now. Recommendations?

I personally really liked MVMCP as long as you don't go on a sold out night. We arrived right at 4 and managed to ride everything we wanted with minimal wait times (walked right on to SM and BTMRR but 7DMT wasn't open yet). The only thing we didn't get to do was meet characters, but we spent a lot of time just wandering/shopping and sightseeing because it was my first time there

We opted for party tickets as well.

It essentially gave us one day of park hopping. We spent the day at AK before going over to MK at 4.

We personally did not like the party and found it extremely crowded especially if your intention is to go for the parade, fireworks, castle lighting, castle show, snow on main st and characters. We were not there on a sold out night. We didn't go for the rides- we went for the special activities and didn't get to experience them because of intense crowds. Biggest disappointment of the trip.
