We are visiting parks for 4 days. We plan to do one park each day with the exception of ONE day and only hopping to one additional park. Can I buy a 5 day base ticket instead of a hopper? It is cheaper to do that than to buy a hopper for the whole time.

Simple answer is NO. Disney will only allow the ticket to be used at one park per day regardless of how many days are left on the ticket.

This has been a very popular question lately, if the search is working you can find more threads with more indepth explanations of how/why this won't work.

A thread with this question pops up at least once daily. At any time you can pay the $45 extra to add the hopper option!!

No your MYW ticket is good for x number of days not x number of visits. You can only park hop if you add the park hopper option.

Why couldn't he use the fifth day as a separate visit to the park he wants to hop too? Why would Disney care if he used a full day to go to a different park at night?

Because Disney charges $45.00 to add the park hopping privilege to a ticket. Adding a 5th day to a base ticket costs only $4+. Allowing someone to just use the extra days on a pass means money out of the mouse's pocket and he cares about his wallet.

It's just the way that they have set up their ticket pricing. Additional days on passes cost relatively few dollars under their pricing structure and the hopping policy is set up to avoid people taking advantage of that. If you try to use a non-hopper ticket at a second park on the same day it will be rejected at the turnstile even if you have multiple days left. The park hopper feature costs a flat $45 no matter how may days the ticket has on it.

A base ticket is one major (theme) park per day. You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

This is because Disney charges $2.00 per day over five days on an adult ticket, but charges $45 to allow hopping. It does not make economic sense for Disney to allow this.
