Park hopper strategy around OBB

My party will not be attending OBB but will have 3 day park hoppers with OBB occurring on one of the 3 days. I expect we will wish to reserve one out of our three days to start in California Adventure. Is it recommended to reserve our morning in CA on the day of OBB and then eventually hop across to Disneyland around 3 pm when OBB ticket holders are being admitted to CA (on the theory that single park ticket holders will have flocked to DL that day, making CA less crowded for the morning) or is there a countervailing factor leading to the opposite strategy or making this an irrelevant consideration?

If you are staying on site, absolutely. (check the schedule the hotels get ee/mm to the parks). The day of the party, I would be at rope drop, especially if not staying on property.

I don’t know because I have never done a park day on an OBB day. I would just say you don’t want to be in DCA after 3 PM unless you’re going to the party. It is way too busy during the mix-in time and will be really frustrating to people with regular tickets.

We attended two OBB parties last year. Five days in park total. All five days we started at Disneyland, then hopped over to the party at 1pm. What i observed is light DCA crowds on the party days. People started to hop over right at the 1pm mark before being required to leave. RSR was pretty manageable an hour before the party.
