Park hopper or not for first timers

It really depends on how you'll prefer to tour, but since it's your first visit you probably don't know for sure yet! With that logic, I'd personally get hoppers just to keep your options open if the cost is not prohibitive.

We always go with a basic plan, but sometimes we choose to leave a park earlier -- either we've done everything we wanted to, rain was too much, park was more crowded than expected, etc. It's great to always have that option to leave and jump to another park later.

We've always used hoppers and felt they worth it. We like the flexibility it gives us. At times, we like to spend half a day at one park and a half a day at another. We also like to hop over to Epcot for dinner. We like to be able to be at an early magic hour park and hop out to another park too. We go in summer when the rain is notorious. Having the hopper allows us to be at one park but hop over to another to see the light show. We just love the flexibility it gives us!
