Park Fare will be closed for refurbishment! What to do?

The first time I called I was told it was definately a buffet with the same characters(Cinderella, Fairy Godmother, Prince, and Mouse).. The next time I called I got someone else who read me the pre-plated menu. The kids was only pasta, and chicken fingers. I kept my reservation because my daughter loves Cinderella and we figured maybe we'll get lucky and it is the buffet.

It is pre-plated. They have said that since they announced it would be moving to the cafe. I am going in Sept and I was told when I made ADR's that it is pre-plated.

Robin (and all) -

Thanks for your help and valuable info! You guys are the best. It is very helpful to learn things well in advance - and be able to plan accordingly.

We're letting our August 1900/GFC ADRs go - celebrating a 10th birthday that day/night - and we're going to switch out to a Pirate & Princess party for that evening.

The birthday girl *really* wanted the Cindy buffet, and isn't interested in any of the pre-plated choices. She's going with "pizza or hot dogs" (AKA food on the run) for dinner that night for the chance to do the P&PP instead. The extra $ cost will be minimal - but should be a lot more fun for all.

Everyone will be happy...happy...happy! :)

(P. S. If anyone is hoping for the 1900 buffet to appear at the GFC during the refurb dates, you may be disappointed. The CM I spoke with said the GFC is "simply not equipped to offer a buffet, as there are no buffet facilities - steam tables, etc. are not available there and pre-plates are the only option.")

I am stressing about this too.

What does "plated meal" mean? Is that family style?

Not quite family style.

What I understood from the CM was to mean is that the meat, potato/starch, and veggies (or whatever) are put onto a plate in the kitchen and brought out. Not much different than any other restaurant, but the choices are much more limited. The prime rib only comes with the potato, the pork only comes with the (I forget), etc. There is a roasted tofu option. I remember 4 possible entrees, including shrimp, prime rib, pork, and the veggie plate. There might have been one more. There were four appetizers (listed in a previous post) to choose from, and the one choice for dessert is a plate of "mini desserts" - I think each diner gets one of these, not one big tray for the entire table.

Hope this helps.
