Park Fare will be closed for refurbishment! What to do?

I LOVE the buffet at 1900 Park Fare, but it will be closed for refurbishing when we're there. This is always a must do for us. Where else can I get the strawberry soup?

The buffet -- and characters -- are being relocated to the Grand Floridian Cafe while 1900 Park Fare is being renovated. At least that's what I was told when I tried to book breakfast at 1900 for July.

yes thats correct. it will be right next door at GF cafe. crystal palace has a good buffet as well

CP has strawberry soup on bfst buffet.

Oh, I need to find out about that. The food selection (and quality) was what we really enjoyed about 1900 Park Fare last year. If all they've done is moved the characters into the Grand Floridian Cafe without the buffet, maybe we'll think about somewhere else.

That is what I was told as well. PF is our favorite breakfast buffet, but we probably would have skipped it if it were pre-plated. Thankfully, the last day for the buffet is the day after we arrive and we were able to get ADR's.
I have heard good things about the Crystal Palace breakfast and really want to try it someday, especially if they have strawberry soup!

The meal is moving but not the buffet. The meals will be preplated, breakfast will be similar to O'Hana, not sure about what will be offered at dinner. But I would be surprised if the soup was offered.

I had called because we were wanting to eat at GFC on our trip and this is what I was told.

Appetizers:

Strawberry Soup
Salad
Soup of the day


Entrees:

Prime Rib w/mashed potato+veg
Shrimp Proscuitto(?)
Roast Pork


I didn't write them all down because we were not interested in 1900 food.
They do have more so you'd have to call about it but I know the above is going to be served.

I have eaten at Crystal Palace many times and have never seen Strawberry soup offered. I thought that was a specialty at 1900 Park Fare. Please don't go to CP expecting it without checking on it with the restaurant.

How long are they refurbing it? I just made ressies for mid September and they booked me in, but siad it would be in the GF Cafe.

Anyone know how much the pre-plated 3-course adult & kid dinners are now/will be during the refurb time?

We are booked in there for August, knew about the refurb, but didn't realize the buffet wasn't happening. Are they keeping the $28.99/$13.99 prices from 1900 Park Fare?

Now, darnit, I JUST called to change my dd's birthday dinner from 1900 to Akershus and the CM asked me to wait while she confirmed the the dinner would be preplated. I had mentioned this was why I was going to change to Akershus. She called the GF and they told her that it was NOT preplated and would be a buffet...so I didn't change it. Now I don't know what to believe...

I called about this, and they told me that it would be preplated. They would have the strawberry soup, prime rib and potatoes, a pasta dish, a pork dish and I think salmon. I can't remember the rest. I forgot to ask what the kids choices are. We loved 1900 Park Fare last year, but we're going to PSB breakfast for the princesses instead this year.
