Effective Sunday April 6 the daily rental rate at WDW for an EVC is going from $35 to $45 (which is the first increase in over three years) and the key deposit is going from $5 up to $20. So to rent an ECV at the parks goes from paying $40 and getting $5 back to paying $65 and getting $20 back.

The rates for wheelchairs ($10 per day or $8 per day with multiday purchase) is not going up.

Also prices for strollers are going up considerably.

Remind me to lock in rates with Walker for September and December tomorrow! ;)

No, but I checked in the Disney Intranet and it did say it has been more than three years.

Just wanted to put a heads up here in DisAbilities about the pending price increase for in-park stroller & ECV rentals, increasing by a lot, I might add. :sad2: The Theme park board is buzzing w/ it & I imagine the Budget & Family boards would be too.

All the more reason to rent an off-site ECV..... gotta make sure that my mom has reserved hers, as I think she may be leaving it to the last minute.

Another big change with the park ECV rentals is the deposit on them has gone from $5 to $20 extra dollars you must leave until you return it. That does not make a lot of sense, as they return that deposit anyway and it would be almost impossible to get those ECVS out of the parks without being noticed...:sad2:

i think the reason for the deposit it not in case someone leaves with the scooter, but ensures that people return them to the front of the parks...

i wonder if disney is trying to decrease the number of people who rent scooters cause they think they will get to the front of hte line by increasing the price...

And notice the deposit fees at DTD!

DOWNTOWN DISNEY RENTAL FEES:
Wheelchair - $100.00 credit card imprint deposit required when renting from this location:
$10.00 rental per day
ECV - $100.00 credit card imprint deposit required when renting from ths location:
$45.00 rental per day

I think this increase in rental cost is something Disney did not think through at all. More people will be renting strollers, wheelchairs & ECV's from other sites. Which will mean more WC's & ECV's on Disney buses & other transportation! Which will mean much longer waits for everyone!

I don't know, but its a problem for me. I "sometimes" need a EVC, depends on how my feet and back are doing, but I may just have to cut back on my trips and just walk slower...:confused3

I am pretty aggravated by this price increase. I have 2 kids DS is 5 and has autism and DD is almost 3 so we really need the double stroller. I know there are a lot of other moms here of special needs kids and the problem we have is that regular double or even singler strollers can't support our bigger special needs kids (my DS weight over 50lbs now:scared1: ).
I did find and off-site company that rents tons of baby gear including a sit N stand double stroller that will hold up to 80 lbs combined weight. I actually own this stroller and it works great. I would take my own but I don't want to deal with it in the airport on top of the kids and DS's SD.
Anyway you can rent this through A Baby's Best Friend www.abbf.com for $78 plus tax for stays of 4-7 nights. about 1/2 the price of renting a double in the park at the new rate.
