I am going to DL next Saturday with 2 friends. We are meeting at one house at 7am and leaving from there. We plan on eating one meal at the park and packing one meal. What should we do for breakfast?

You could get breakfast in the park (there are certain restaurants that serve breakfast and make things like Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes), but I think its a waste of time, especially if you're only going for one day. On Harbor Blvd right across from the park is a Denny's, an IHOP, and a McDonald's. Or if you don't mind not having a filling, nutritious breakfast you can always get a churro or other snacks inside the park.

Do you have time to eat at your friends house? it can be quick and simple, cereal, and or toast, or in a pinch, pop tarts! I love those, they can be dangerous though, as in dangerously addicting ;) even better, well nutrition wise, are protein bars, such as one of my favorites, the Atkins bar, they are filling, low calorie, very low in fat, and high in protein, and are not terribly expensive.

I would either:
a) Meet a little earlier and eat a quick breakfast at their house
b) Eat in the car on the way to DL (muffins, pop tarts, something easy to carry)

do minnies brekfest maybe? id say its grate and you can eat when you get in the park

Personally, I'd rather save on breakfast and have a better meal later. To get energy for the park I'd have protein for breakfast. If you made a hard boiled egg or two ahead of time, you could eat them quick on the way or take them with you. Or a piece of cold chicken. That's just me. I'm a little odd that way. :cool1:

I would pick up something to eat on the way rather than taking the time for a sit down breakfast, especially if you're only there for one day.

I am also a fan of eating leftover pizza for breakfast, sometimes, I don't do that, all that often. Sometimes I have chocolate cake instead, well it has the food groups in it, milk, eggs, carbs, and love that vanilla flavoring! no, I don't have any children ;) he!he! apparently, I and my cats, fish, and parrots, are all that I can handle, at the moment, o.k. it has been a very long moment! ;) :)

Thank you for the replies. None us of are breakfast people. I think we are all going to eat at our own homes. I got some yogert, milk, apples, bananas and single serving of Honey Nut Cheerios. I like the hard boiled egg idea. I would like to get good meal in so that I am not starving by 8 when the park opens.

You should check out the DL Dining Reviews sticky. You'll see so much great food and there's bound to be one thing that you HAVE to have. I decided on this next trip we HAVE eat at the carnation cafe so we can get the baked potato soup. I also really like Storyteller cafe in the Grand Californian. Hope you have a great trip!!!

IndyBride~Thanks for the suggestion. We went to the Storytellers Cafe for my last Dec. One of my friends has a sister that can get a good deal on 1 Day Hopper tickets if she comes thru we will have more choices for food. I want a turkey leg but other then that I guess we will eat when we get hungry or need a break.

If you mean a park hopper to get to Storyteller's Cafe, you don't need one (if you just have a single park ticket for DL). You can get to the GCH through DTD - so no park hopper needed for the restaurants at any of the 3 DLR hotels or the DTD restaurants :thumbsup2

I used allears.net to research restaurants in WDW and at WDW resorts for our trip in May and it was soooooooo helpful! I printed out the list of all the restaurants at each park and each day I'd put that in our stroller so we'd be able to decide what we wanted to do while in the park. It was especially important to know where to get frozen cokes(slurpees)!!! I would try it and see what you find for DLR. You can view a list by park or resort as well as view the menus by restaurant. I haven't looked into restaurants at DLR yet, but I am hoping that allears has as much in depth info for DLR as it did for WDW! Good Luck and have fun!

We are going to get the park hoppers because my friends sister can get the tickets for just a little bit more then we were going to originally pay just for Disneyland. That way if we decide to go hit a couple attractions at CA Adventure we can do so at a good deal over gate price. Sorry if my previous post was confusing.

princessLoLo'smom,
It would be nice to fine some menus online so that we can drool over them, I mean chose a place that would best fit the needs of our group. I have looked here and didn't find as many details on Disney Dining for Disneyland like WDW. I haven't look on allears yet. I'll go look, Thanks.

Yes, try allears.net for menus. It is a little confusing the first time because the default page is for WDW, but look at the bottom of the page and click on Disneyland.... The other good place to look to see what food there is would be the Disneyland Dining Reviews:

Just a warning, some of the older pictures are no longer viewable and some of the yummy food in some pictures (the Strawberry Shortcake :sad1: ) is no longer available. This was very helpful to us in deciding where we just HAD to go in DL!!!

The correct answer is.....leave earlier ;).....

.....early enough to park....take the tram....go thru security.....& be at the front gate at 7:20 or 7:25. (assuming you don't have MM)

Munch on stuff in the car.....or in line at the front gate (at 7:30am).

Then have a nice meal at 11ish in the parks (carnation cafe or a dozen others) before the lunch crush.....but after you've toured for 2 1/2 hours & have picked up 4-5 FPs. :hippie:

When we are on vacation, I always throw the "attempting to eat healthy" right out the window. I really look forward to all the "bad" food I am going to thoroughly enjoy! We hit McDonalds on the way to So. Cal. then stop again for a Taco Bell or In and Out lunch!

Pop-tarts are good too though! I love those freakin things, and they really are addicting:lmao:

Queenbillabong is right about that thread... there are some really yummy pics in there and I haven't been through all the pages yet. I started from, the last page and went the opposite direction to avoid the old pics that were no longer viewable. I can't wait to get the muckey beignets when we go!!! I haven't had a beignet in years... we used to go the the French Quarter every year to visit my Aunt and her family when I was a kid. The Cafe Du Monde was my favorite place!

That mickey shaped sourdough loaf from Pacific Wharf looks awesome too!
