We will be going to DL on Veteran's day (November 11) and plan to be at DCA until it closes and then run over to DL to get a spot for Fantasmic!

I realize we may not get a good spot if we do this, but what are the chances that the park will reach capacity and we won't even be able to get into DL?

There are never any guarantees, but while I suspect it will be busy, I would be extremely surprised if it reached capacity. If it were me, I would not be worried.

Thanks. I'm a bit of a worrier by nature and I thought it would be lousy to miss Fantasmic! We may try to cut over sooner just to get a better spot.

Just a note, People start picking out spots 4 hrs before the show starts. We got there 2 hrs before it started and had trouble finding a "GOOD" spot.

That's a bit insane for me. We would have to do an entire extra day in the parks just to get in the rides we wanted, also the thought of sitting with little people and waiting for 4 hours fills me with dread.

It sounds like I'd better plan more time waiting if I want to see it at all and expect that we'll get lousy spots.

The trick for Fantasmic is to see it at the later (10:30) show on nights when they show it twice, which is usually. It's MUCH less crowded then.

Get to the area about 9:20, while the first show is still going on. Hang back around HM or Riverbelle. At 9:25, the first show ends and the fireworks begin. Some people will leave, though most will stay for the fireworks. You'll be able to find a spot that would only be OK for F!, but is just fine for watching fireworks. Watch the fireworks along with the other folks. When the fireworks end, almost everyone will get up and leave. You should be able to find an excellent spot to see F! at that time.

DW & I used this procedure on 9/27. Got front row sitting-only spots to see F!.

ETA - The fireworks are much better from in front of the castle. So you still need to plan a separate evening for seeing them from that location. I just meant that, if you're seeing them from around ROA anyway, you should be able to find a spot that's OK for that.

Unfortunately I don't think the kiddos would last that long, also they don't have fireworks that night.

Wow, me and disneynerd420 did the same thing on the same night, we were front row dead center, right on rail, you were probably sitting right by us:)

The chances of DL closing to capacity on Veteran's Day?

ZERO.

It's not even a blackout day for AP holders.

You will be fine.

Wow, I've seen disneynerd's photo on his profile; you'd have thought I'd notice. DW & I were a little further left (toward HM) than center. Sorry we missed you guys.
