Hello, we will be heading to the listed signature restaurants and I was wondering if it’s acceptable to bring a park bag (regular school backpack) into them while dinning? I know the ones inside of the parks would be fine but not sure on the hotel restaurants.

Yachtsman Steakhouse
Hollywood Brown Derby
California Grill
Le Cellier
Tiffins

We are also two boys (25 & 15) and plan on wearing short sleeve polo shirts and cargo shorts to the restaurants inside the parks and dress shorts / Chinos to the ones at the Hotels. Do you think that’s enough for the hotel based restaurants?

Advice appreciated,

You will definitely see more dressed up folks at California Grill, but there will also be people in casual too. I wouldn't worry about it; just be comfortable... it's Disney World!

We took a separate posh outfit into epcot for our chef de Paris (now monsier Paul?) Reservation and immediately regretted it when we saw what everyone else was wearing. A 9 hour day of walking with a whole other outfit was not worth it!

I took a full size backpack to dinner with me after an afternoon at a water park.

I showered at the park, had dress, sandals, makeup, curling iron, brush, hairspray in backpack.

Took bus to resort & set up camp in a restroom to beautify myself. I wanted the a/c & niceness of the resort over the water park changing rooms, they even had a makeup mirror area. I didn't want to take time to go back to my resort to get ready & then have exorbitant travel time to dinner.

I considered leaving it at the check-in desk at the restaurant & I suppose I could have left it at bell services for the resort I was at.
But quite frankly, when you're still at a theme park setting & several guests still come to this same dinner in flip flops & cut off shorts. I had no problem walking in in my full length maxi dress & placing my backpack next to a column and no bother to any other diner.

I discussed the 'dress code' for CG dinner with my kids, they balked, then took great pleasure in pointing out several infractions (& there were MANY to point out & sometimes multiple on one person). The reality is no one cares anymore. Do whatever you want. You care, but no one else does.

Thank you everyone for the advice! At 43 days out so now I get to obsess on getting the fine details down :p

Again I really appreciate it,

You will be fine! As long as you don’t stink, what you plan will be perfectly fine

I hope you enjoy your dinners

Yup! You will be perfectly fine with the attire you’ve described and your park bags. Enjoy!

You are GOLDEN, with one exception: Victoria & Albert's at the GF.

This IS WDW.... they really have no issues with clean, un ripped Park attire. Avoid TShirts with offensive lingo? You will be fine :).

Oh - note: No Men's Hats. The 1947 Fedora must be left at home :). Most of us STILL don't get why this is still on the books :).

It is definitely okay at Brown Derby. I agree that Victoria and Alberts has a stricter dress code. The restaurants inside the parks seem more casual to me, as most people stay in their shorts and don't go back to the room to change. At least, that has been my experience.
