Park at Epcot or MK?

We are staying in the DTD area(Cypress Pointe to be exact)

On our one park day, we're planning to start at MK and end the day at Epcot. We had planned to park at MK, do MK first then monorail to Epcot, monorail back at the end of the day and drive to our villa. In looking at a map it appears that Epcot is much closer to our villa and it is also where we will end our evening so we were thinking about parking at Epcot and monorailing to MK to start the day , monorail back to Epcot and leave from there.

My question is this. We'll want to be there by opening (nonEMH) can we hop on the monorail at Epcot before the parks open and be at MK before the park opens? We can get on the monorail without entering the park at Epcot, right? How exactly do we do this?

The rule of thumb is to drive your car to the park you are finishing the day.

So to answer your second question first, yes you can ride the monorail from Epcot without entering Epcot. The entrance is in front of the ticket booths. The monorail starts 1 hour before Epcot opens.

Which then gets to the first question. If MK and Epcot open at the same time, it would be possible to park at Epcot and be at MK for the opening. If MK opens earlier, probably not.

I wondered if we were somehow "cheating" to park at Epcot and go straight to MK. We are still going to pay to park and everything so I guess it's not cheating.

I guess we'll try to be parking in Epcot at 8:30am to get to MK by 9am. Do you think that would work?

Unless you really want to take the TTC - Epcot monorail, you could always drive to Epcot after you have finished at MK. You could still get to MK for EMH then you would have your car at Epcot for when you're done there. Just save your parking receipt - you only have to pay for parking once per day

Better make it a little earlier. Remeber, you have to change monorails at the TTC. I'm always pessimistic, but I would get to Epcot at 8:00

Arrive at Epcot 8:00
Park, walk to monorail 8:05
Wait for monorail 8:10
Ride Epcot monorail 8:22
Get off Epcot monorail walk to Express monorail 8:25
Wait for Express monorail 8:40 minutes (crowd at platform have to wait for second or third monorail)
Ride to MK 8:47
Get off monorail, go through security, turnstyles, enter MK 8:55
