Park and Fly at Newark

Hi -

WE're flying out of Newark very early, and are considering staying over the night before. What hotels at the airport offer the park and fly option? Also, if anyone has done this, was it a pain getting to/from the airport?

Never done this in Newark, but I always do this when flying out of MSP. I've found it just as handy as parking in the airport lots (you have to take a shuttle from most lots at MSP anyway.) and it is alot cheaper as I would have spent a night at the hotel anyway.

There is one hotel at Newark listed at http://www.travelcouponsonline.com/parking.html that is bookable online for park and fly rooms. Most hotels require you to call and inquire directly or they do not offer park and fly at all.

We have parked a few times at Vista on Frontage Rd at Newark Airport. They share their driveway with a Howard Johnsons. I believe the website is Vistaparking.com. If you do everything ahead of time with them they give you a discount and they have a shuttle van waiting for you at the Howard Johnson's lot. Perhaps they have a deal with HoJos if you want an overnight stay. We only used them twice and didn't have a problem. Check them out and see what you think. Let me know if you need more info. not exactly on topic, but thought you would want to know...

I have friends who work at the airport and they have been half-joking to me latley about the construction making things VERY CONFUSING for travel in and around the airport lately. I travel somewaht regularly but haven't had to since august- so i thought they were just exagerating.

Well my folks flew in last week and back out this morning, and I can vouch from picking up and dropping off- THE PLACE IS A NIGHTMARE. Traffic patterns are completley different than ever (even from August) - the entrance from northbound 1&9 and the turnpike exit 13a is drastically moved, parking no longer enters from in front of the terminals but from a completley new area, and although the 2 new garages are at least part open it seems there is less parking. The road in front of the terminals is completely changed and the exits are all different.

THe signs STINK- since the whole thing is still temporary and half under construction there are no real signs- just small sized orange construction signs that always seem to be place at the last minute.

I drove a limo for years to and from and i cant recognize the place any more.

I haven't been to Newark since 9/11, but on our last trip to DL, we flew Continental. We landed after midnight and the airport was still a noisy, congested mess. Alot of traffic & horn-blowing. We left quiet peaceful John Wayne airport outside of DL and landed in absolute turmoil in Newark. Our regular limo driver was telling us horror stories, as we sat & waited in lines of traffic. I think I literally felt all of the relaxation from the trip drain from my body.
