I HAVE READ THAT THERE IS SUCH A THING AS A SHOPPING PASS THAT IS AVAILABLE FOR 1 HOUR TO ENTER THE PARK WITHOUT PAID ADMISSION. IS THER ANY SIMILAR BENEFIT THAT WOULD ALLOW SOMEONE TO ENTER EPCOT TO DINE IN THE EVENING WITHOUT USING A DAY ON YOUR ADMISSION MEDIA, THAT IS, JUST TO EAT AND LEAVE?

I've never heard about this, but I'm very interested in the answer. If we could enter a park just for a PS, that would help me on planning for our family reunion.

Anyone know?

I have read about the shopping pass. It's not really a pass. You buy a l day ticket at guest services for full price and if you return the ticket in one hour , you will rceive a full refund.

My MIL did this at the AK. I think you could do this at any of the parks. However, you would have to eat and run to be back in one hour.

herc.

I believe they have completely discontinued this. They also sued to have a reduced admission after 4:00pm at Epcot--no longer so.

There are so many resort restaurants which are incredibly good--why not try one of those instead, and plan on dining at an Epcot restaurant some day when you will be inteh parks?

Usually when you make a PS for a park restaurant, they tell you "park admission is required".

So, I would say yes.

:smooth:

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSES, EVERYONE. I FIGURED THAT ADMISSION WAS REQUIRED FOR A P.S. THAT WOULD BE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IF NOT. YOU CAN SEE WHER I WAS GOING WITH THIS.........PS FOR R&C DURING ILLUMINATIONS...NO ENTRY FEE? OH WELL, I TRIED. YOU CAN'T BLAME ME, CAN YOU?

DSCOTT,
Yep, I could blame you. I would hate the thought that someone who had sacrificed, saved and planned for years to get to EPCOT with the hopes of landing the same seats as you might get knocked out of their seats by someone cheating their way in. Now I see why the shopping pass was done away with.

Cheating their way in? Don't you think maybe that's a little harsh, Belle5-soon-to-be-6? After all, if it was allowable procedure by Disney, it wouldn't be cheating, would it?

Hi,

The only restaurant I know of taht you can get into without park admission is The Rainforest Cafe at DAK. They have an entrance at the main gates as well as inside the park (where they check)

The shopping pass thing is interesting... and I imagine a good thing for those who saw something they wanted to get - but didn't pick it up - with this they could get in and shop without having to spend admission....

Sorry about your plans for R & C - best bet is to spend the day there and enjoy the whole experience.

Miss Orchid,
Obviously, you don't understand the concept of the shopping pass and what it was meant for.

I think we all know that WDW would never allow someone into EPCOT for the OP's intentions. Any other use is trying to cheat the system.

Belle, there's really no need to roll your eyes at me and get all sarcastic. Can we have a conversation about this? :)

I had never heard of a shopping pass before reading this thread, but based on a previous post,
"I have read about the shopping pass. It's not really a pass. You buy a l day ticket at guest services for full price and if you return the ticket in one hour , you will rceive a full refund"
....if it's not really a pass, then perhaps it's not really for shopping, either. If the only qualifier is/was that it must be returned within one hour, and it was never called a "shopping pass" by Disney folks, why do you assume, and force upon others that assumption, that the ONLY use for such a thing was to shop?

Actually, I suspect that Disney might still allow for such a provision in the use of their tickets, to allow for unexpected departures and to show good will if a guest should happen to have to leave less than an hour after they've arrived at the park. I suspect that it was never even intended as a "shopping pass." But those are just my thoughts, they have no basis in factual knowledge of such a policy.

MAN!!!! Some people are soooooo uptight! Relax Belle5....this is all about vacation. Don't blow a gasket!:smooth:

I also think it would be very hard to get seated and dine AND return to the gate in one hour. For the high prices Epcot restaurants charge (at night) I'd want to linger longer.:)

But it is a great idea to have a " late entry ticket" for dining at Epcot...that place's attendance is way down, and it might help some.

Disney used to offer a "shopping pass" for a one hour admission to pickup souvenirs that were forgotten, not to visit attractions. This was abused, so they changed the policy to allow a ticket to be purchased (one day) and refunded in full IF the individual was back at Guest Services within one hour. This also was unsatisfactory and has been discontinued.

That being said, the original question in this post was on topic and answered, so the discussion is over. Arguing is against DIS Posting Guidelines. If you want to do so, do it in email or pm's please. Thank you.
